In 1976, Lal Bihari, an ordinary peasant who lives in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, decided to open a loan. But when collecting documents, he discovered that he was officially dead for a long time! As it turned out later, things did not go without corruption. His uncle, who clearly disliked his nephew, decided to take the land from him unfairly. For such a fraud, he needed to give a small bribe to one official, who officially killed Lal Bihari according to the documents.

But Lal decided to fight not only for a place under the sun, but for his legal existence, and filed a lawsuit. But he did not immediately succeed in regaining the status of a living person. Only in 1994 he won the case. To be honest, it is rather strange that in our modern world a person had to prove in court for so many years that he was alive.

After a long trial, having achieved the truth, outraged Lal Bihari thought that he probably was not alone. After some deliberation, he created his own Association of Dead People. Its main function is aimed at helping people who find themselves in the same situation. As it turned out, there were a lot of them in India. Every year the court is engaged in similar processes.
