Terry's Life - Simple Truths...
I have always been a "knight in shining armor" for girls, and always saw in them the best, tried to encourage, motivate... because of this I was receiving next "knife in the back". But I continued, with the stubbornness of an idiot, to consider my main duty is to become a stair for women, thanks to which they can become better, more self-confident.
This went on for quite a long time... but over time I noticed that my "inner light" goes off and I cannot give it away so easily as before! I became like a squeezed lemon. The first true thoughts began to visit my young mind... What seems so obvious now, then it was like a sudden enlightenment, an epiphany! Truly YOUR man not only "takes", but also "gives"! All of us, every one without exception, like batteries... and our life energy is not infinite, it encourages us to do wonderful things, but sooner or later it runs out if it does not "feeded"!
I began to look at life more "soberly". But thoughts that "princesses need to be protected from dragons" were still in my head and periodically I "stepped on the same rake" :) I was pretty naive in my youth. But, people are lying! This simple truth also didn't come easily to me, at the cost of the first marriage... Among other things, any person can be not frank even with himself, because he or she doesn't know himself! After all, driven into the framework of morality and everyday life, we often do not have the opportunity to know ourselves for real!
In such cases, there are usually two ways:
"Grow a thick skin" - Effectively enough to protect themselves from the moral injury, but also to live for real more difficult.
Change yourself - Yes. This is hard. Recognize your mistakes, work on your worldview and perception...
I guess I combined both of these options. I stopped "wasting myself" on "empty" people and gradually restored my "inner light". I rethought my goals and realized that I do not need a "princess" looking for herself in life... at expense of my lifetime. All my perception of this world turned upside down when I met her... We really live happily! We love and support each other! But we are both people "with the core", our characters strong enough and don't change, we do not adjust to each other. We are always frank with each other even in small things. Without compromise! Yes, we have quarrels, but without insults and massacre :) And at this stage in my life, I can give an absolutely precise definition of love...
True love is not a victory over the dragon for her, but life with her, even knowing that she is the dragon!
So, I found what I was really looking for! :) Personality! Not the one who will only use me and "suck up energy", but the one who always "fills me" with her energy.
Look for truly yourself, your happiness and don't take the templates for your thoughts, friends! What can be happiness for the majority, can be absolutely don't needed for you! :)

This line you wrote about someone sucking up your energy, I can really relate to that from both sides, but maybe not in the way you might think. When I met my boyfriend, I was going through some heartbreak actually, and being around him just filled me with light. We weren't together yet, but I could just tell that he was having this powerful affect on me. In that way, I just wanted his presence with me at all times, his physical presence. It was then that I realized that he was getting that energy of lightness from the source, and I shouldn't be trying to take it from him. I should be tapping into the source from where it all comes from. It was a really powerful realization, and now I always know where to reach for that light and energy, even when the darkness hits. It isn't from others, ever. And when people try suck energy from me, I try to gently guide them to another place, not by telling them, but just existing in that way.
So I think what you are also talking about here is similar. You're not filled up with her energy, she just leads you to the light where it comes from <3 What do you think?

Love does not come to fill the holes you have inside. Only you can do that. Love comes to complete, to aggregate, like two pieces of a puzzle that fit together and form a greater whole. Giving away the best of you to others in the hope of finding true love is a recurrent mistake that many people make. Your post is spot on: find yourself, improve yourself, meet someone who is doing the same. This is love.

Love this. My mom used to tell me, save the wife treatment for your eventual wife. I think there is truth to that. Treat all women with respect, but give the princess treatment to your eventual wife.
This is a massive problem, particularly for young guys in relationships. They act as if they are married or in a serious relationship before the relationship has earned that level of respect. Wise woman your mom :)

Damn, where were you when all I had were princes who needed saving instead? Glad you grew to put yourself first. Like the old adage "before you love someone, you need to love yourself first"
Metaphors are powerful, my friend. You use some really strong ones to explain your reality. Try playing with that and see where it takes you.
I used to see life as a battle and it was. Now I see it as a fun game and it is. I used to see others as enemies and they were. Now I see them as reflections and they are :-)
I see you think like I do. He knows more in his subconscious than his conscious. Awakened can see this.
