No longer my sisters keeper
I have a sister with special needs
It has taken her a while but she has finally learned how to take care of her finances. I been her payee representative for a while now. As the organization that was suppose to be helping her was stealing from her.
My big sister has had a hard road
She has not had an easy life. But she has a good heart and works hard to over come the challenges she has faced in life. One of those things is becoming independent and no longer needing a payee.
We first had to prove she no longer needed one
Once I took over from the organization that was suppose to be helping my sister take care of herself. I started working on getting her more independent. I decided to give her control of her money in a way she could use it where it was needed but with supervision just in case she started to get into trouble. I got a debit card for the payee account her check is deposited into and gave her the debit card. After a couple of years of her managing her own money with supervision. We proved she could do it herself.
I am so proud of my sister
Today was a great day for her. After 46+ years on the planet she is finally fully in charge of her own life. It is a great day for me too, to get to be apart of watching her accomplish so much. Never give up on people.

yes, you put so much trust in her. finally she paid your faith in full
This is so great to hear! I also have a cousin with special needs, she is still quite young though but we are positive that she too can be independent in the future. Your sister is lucky and blessed to call you her sister <3
