The Brick Wall Of Steemit Bandwidth - Daily Blog Challenge (Day 6)

This blog post is brought to you by @binkyprod

Alright, people! Real talk. I'm angry. I'm disappointed. This post is going to rustle some feathers, but it's what I've got for today.

So there I was in front of my computer last night. Honoring my commitment to myself, I wrote up a blog post. I find the relevant links, even taken to my old archives to find the picture I used as an example, format it just perfect, and click on "Post". Imagine my dismay when I see a pop-up saying I don't have enough bandwidth. This is as close to a literal brick wall I've ever encountered online.

This wasn't a complete surprise though. The "Herald Of Bandwidth Apocalypse" came to me the other day as I was responding to comments.

It's something I'd been thinking about since my return. I hear people talk about Steemit. One comment gets heard a lot: "if the whales and the dolphins don't take notice of you, you won't get anywhere." I never gave it much credence for two reasons:

  1. I think I make good content.
  2. That sounds like the kind of complaint a loser SJW would say.

The most fantastic thing about the Internet is that there are no more gatekeepers. There are no more middlemen. Everyone has a fair shot. There is no barrier to entry. To anyone with eyes to see, that's undeniable! But this. This one hit me hard. As I sat there in my chair, looking at that pop up inviting me to buy STEEM, I experienced that as the very infrastructure of this site preventing me from staying true to my word with myself. Naturally scratch that

Naturally, this being the Internet, I turned to a competitor. I'm amused by the fact that I didn't even do it right. I'll figure it out though. One thing that is resoundingly clear: I need to diversify. I realize the bad optics of complaining about Steemit on Steemit, but it would be out of integrity for me to write about something else right now.

Thankfully, I've got a good friend here who was kind enough to delegate some SP to me after I complained to her. Thanks again Binky! Without you, this post quite literally wouldn't be possible. Not today anyway. Not here.

I'm going to finish this challenge, but I don't know what the future holds after I'm back to work. I don't like the notion of being sponsored here, but that might be my own ego. Maybe in another couple days, this bad taste will be completely gone from my mouth. One thing's for sure: nothing's gonna stand in my way! If I quit now, I'm no better than those loser SJWs! Thanks for listening.

Resource Credits are a fairly new feature. It used to be, all new Steemians had a minimum delegated amount of SP from one of the Steem bot accounts, like 10 or 20, until that Steemian hit their first 50 or 100 Steem. I remember my wallet showing (+11.00 STEEM) for a good while. Then it went away. I don't see it as a sponsorship. There are tons of Steemians helping other Steemians out. Steem Monsters, for example, will delegate to new players of the game with low SP.It allows a new user to function on the blockchain so they can grow. And I'm happy to help 🤗

Before I hit 500 SP, @abh12345 delegated some SP to me. Asher's delegation allowed me to use the upvote slider to choose how much % of a vote I wanted to give. When I hit 500SP, he passed that delegation on to someone else. It was very kind of him as it allowed me to give out more upvotes and to do more as well.

The Steemit community as a whole is a very giving and caring one. It wholly disagree that you need to get a whale's attention. It took me a long while to get on @Curie's radar, but I grew and got some nice upvotes from everyone together before than happened. There are obv smaller communities within this one that give more consistent support to its members and I think finding your community can have great benefits. I don't know if there is an improv community here. Some require a delegation, for more from them, but most will gladly give to its members. That's why I like to give as well. I make sure my personal SP doesn't go below 500. I soon plan on increasing my delegation to @accelerator.

There are contests too, not just communities that allow users to fairly win @sbi shares for regular and guaranteed upvotes on their content, and of course, your local friendly @fulltimebot team programmed by @fulltimegeek.

I like to prove ppl wrong when they say I can't succeed at something. I think you have the talent to prove them wrong too.

Oh and, the delegation, that's Voluntaryism with a capital V 😁
