Daily Dose of Sulnpapper 04/30/18> Are you familiar with Monopoly …. Cryptomonopoly?

I jokingly made a comment Saturday afternoon in a discord chat with someone about getting @thesteemengine as a rail road line on an online competitive game of Cryptomonoply. Our rail road over here is as good if not better than those in the real Monopoly board game. Well little did I know, what I said jokingly about Cryptomonoply actually does exist already, my trusty Googles led me right over to an article where I took a look around.

I don’t know how long it has been around or who created it but I will say it looks pretty good from what I saw. The online game actually has the name “Cryptocoinopoly” and both me and @catweasel were wrong on the company that first came out with the original Monopoly game, it was Hasbro according to the article. He had it as Parker Brothers and I thought it was Milton Bradley, either way we both stand corrected, if the article is right.

Have any of you looked at this online version that is based around crypto currencies? Has anyone played it? If so @catweasel said to book him a seat and I would probably play as well. At least in this version I can’t get thrown in jail, the spot on the original game that was the jail is “Hodl” on the online version of Cryptocoinopoly. The object is to collect crypto currencies like you would properties on the board game, then when people land on your crypto currency you can charge them exorbitant fees for being there, that sounds just like the real crypto exchanges, doesn’t it?

The community cards and the chance cards are pretty damn funny as well, one chance card says that you have to “make repairs to your mining rigs” and then has the fees from $25 per rig and $100 per mining farm. What other old board games would you like to see remade with a cryto version and available online to play with friends? I think the “Game of Life” would be a good one, and I’m not even going to go Google it, there is probably a 99.9% chance it is already out there and people are probably playing it.

Another good one would be sort of based on the game “Trivial Pursuit”, it could be called “ Crypto Trivia” or “Pursuit of Crypto” , and it may be out there as well already. One thing is for sure though; the internet makes for one real large dining room table to play board games on.

I know that I enjoy being able to play poker with folks from all over the world here on the internet and particularly with the folks here on steemit over at the Steem Poker League. We may not all speak the same language but since the game is big all around the world language isn’t a barrier by any means. Besides most poker players don’t chat much when their playing; or at least the sneaky ones don’t. I’m about half sneaky; I might just throw a comment in the chat box, to cause a person a little distraction from their thought process, nothing confrontational though.

Speaking of poker, I played two tournaments on Sunday. The first one I finished in the money but didn’t make it to the final table. The second tournament I did a little better making it to the final table and finishing in third place, so all in all the poker gods were pretty good to me on Sunday. I had a guy call me a “bafoon” in the second game, I didn’t see him at the final table though, he had a problem with my 10’s beating his 6’s, as pissed as he was and as gracious a winner I am, I didn’t point out to him he misspelled “bafoon”, the correct spelling is “buffoon”. They should put spell check in the chat box over on the Steem Poker League for guys like him.
