The centralized education model that is followed in Finland along the lines of Waldrof education system has worked very well for the country and its citizens. Many other countries are now already following it or intend to foll0w it (or a modified version of it).

In countries where a system like Finland's or similar does not exist, home schooling is becoming popular which relies on, among others, internet for educational material.

I have personally known of several cases where students of home schooling have done extremely well academically. Whether these students do well in other aspects of life is debatable and depends very much on their parents and the conditions, circumstances and tools these parents expose their kids to.

The concept of schools in Finland is really quite different from what we have around the world. Mainly because they do not try to model the children so that they conform to what the educational system wants. The only one, however, is that this system can be flawed if one or more of the child's educators is not trained for service, which is always the case in schools around the world.

I believe that homeschooling is an interesting model, especially since today we already have many tools to help parents or groups of students organize themselves and organize what they need to study and when they need to study. Aside from the fact that the parents of children will always want them to have the best education they can give.
