RE: Maybe My Content Just Sucks!
Hey Chris,
I hear you brother. You are the one who recommended Steemit to me and I really appreciate it :)
Here is my take on things even though I'm relatively new : At first I thought Steemit was a place where you came and if you presented really good Content you would get rewarded. PERIOD !!
Well, now that I have been here well over a month and interacting everyday I found it is much more than that. Which is good and bad. But in in my view more good than bad.
I found that it is NOT just a Content dump site but it is also a social media outlet where you connect to people on a personal level and you interact , encourage, support, inspire etc..etc..
Sure, I too agree there is way too much Content that is crap but then it gets big rewards.
But to see Rewards you really have to be on here interacting and staying consistent with it. I go on others' peoples blogs and am constantly making Comments of value while also giving some encouragement, support, and tips. And do it everyday. But it's natural for me and is NOT work at all
To be honest if you want to find Success here ( from what I have learned from other here in my short time) , it has to be a consistent effort over time. And it's probably about 75% Social connection and 25% actual Content. Which sometimes seems not fair but think about it that transcends all facets in our lives. Whether it be a leader in the Community, social clubs, PTA, Employment..well a lot of success is based on who we know, who knows us, our ability to network and make connections etc..etc..,
Not just a dumping ground for Content, even if it is GREAT quality Content.
This place is more than that.
Not necessarily saying that is bad or good.
But it is what it is. People can embrace it or not.
However, your arguments are very valid and quite sound, no question. And I do appreciate it . And you are a great creator of Content. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise :)
But in all due respect Chris, I do not think if you want to see the BIG rewards you can be in and out of here months at a time to see those rewards. For one thing, if you ave a Big Following they will forget you if you are gone that long. You have to stay Engaged with them consistently. Maybe I could be wrong but from what I have seen from the BIG players it's an everyday thing or at least a minimum 3 or 4 times a week of solid interaction... that's Blog posting and Commenting on others' blogs. ( I have found quality Commenting on others' blogs is crucial to get engagement and exposure)
Resteemed, buddy ! :)
.well a lot of success is based on who we know, who knows us, our ability to network and make connections etc..etc..,
I have to give that a thumbs up.....
Those are all good points, but I have to say I lked it much better the way it was when it first opened. In my opinion, that was how it was meant to be. The idea was to be rewarded for sharing great content. It was supposed to be the exact opposite of sites like Facebook. This was not supposed to be a "content dump," but a place where you came and shared your best content, and that content was rewarded based on merit.
Unfortunately, it is turning into exactly what it's not supposed to be. A personal battlefield where there are no rules and not even a quality bar for content. You can come in here and post two sentences of crap and make $1000. Then, I can come here and post a piece about a really significant historical event that I worked on for 3 hours and make $0.50.
I'm sorry bro, but if that's what it's going to be, I'm taking my money and running. And lots of others feel the same way. There has to be some incentive for people to post here and not on their own sites. And there is absolutely no regulation when it comes to gaming the system. People are buying votes and getting their content into the "trending" position and all other shady tactics.
It's too bad. This could have been something really amazing.
