Mountain House is the source for freeze dried foods. I just wanted to cover why the are the best at what they do, as well as why you should keep some on hand.

Uses

These are super lightweight. They are the perfect food for camping or hiking since they weigh next to nothing and can easily be made in any scenario. Put a few in your car in case of an emergency, or have some in a backpack. Any place where you might need access to food in an emergency that you can rely on is a place where mountain house has a home.

Ease

These are individually sealed complete meals. Just open the package, pour in hot water, and let stand for 10 minutes to reconstitute. The bags also reseal and become handy trash bags. To the best of my knowledge, they do not come with a utensil, but an MRE spoon or camping spork would do the trick perfectly.

Life

Being freeze dried, these taste as fresh as the day they were packed. I saw a video of someone eating a 30+ year old US army long range patrol ration packed by mountain house back in the 80's. These will never expire or fail unless the package is broken.

Variety

Mountain House offers a variety of dishes for all 3 meals so no need to get bored by the same thing every day on a trip. They also offer massive #10 sized cans of single items so if you have a group of people on a camping trip, you can easily feed an entire posse with the contents of that can. For a bit under $40 to feed probably 5-7 people, it isn't that expensive either.

Their best

My personal recommendation would the their "just in case" bucket which contains 2 of each of the following pouches:

• Beef Stroganoff with Noodles
• Chicken Teriyaki with Rice
• Beef Stew
• Lasagna with Meat Sauce
• Noodles & Chicken
• Granola with Milk & Blueberries
