| Does everyone know this tradition of pouring lead on New Year's Eve? | Die Deutschen kennen mit Sicherheit diese Tradition, schließlich kommt man am Silvesterabend kaum um diese herum. |
| Here is short decription of how it goes and why it beeing played. Answering the why is simple! It is played as oracle like game, more to that in a second. Fist, grap a candle. | Die Erklärung des unterhalsamen "Orakel-Spiels" erspare ich mir also im Deutschen. |
| Second, melt the lead or what we used this year, as this game involving lead will be forbidden next year due to the poisonous of lead, over the candle. Third, throw the molten substance into water. Next, wait a second to let it cool down. Finally, fish the substance out of the water, and check what it looks like. A list tells you, what "meaning", "future", "luck" or even "misfortune" the symbol carries for the next year. | Da das Bleigießen mit Blei ab nächsten Jahr verboten sein wird, testeten wir schonmal vorab die Wachsalternative. |
| The good thing about the wax was, it melted extremely quickly, with lead at times you had to wait for minutes. But the created items are comparing with the lead version (a) not as lasting and (b) not as interesting as most results turned out flat as the wax hardened straight after hitting the surface of the water. | Das Gute am Wachs ist, es schmilzt schnell. Also traten keine Armkrämpfe auf, die beim Bleigießen dazugehörten. Aber die Resultate sind schlichtweg (a) deutlich weniger langlebig und (b) weniger interessant, da das Wachs sofort erhärtet, sobald es auf die Wasseroberfläche prallt, mit dem Resultat, dass statt Figuren eher platte Wachsteller enstanden. |

Who likes to play with fire ;)? | Mein Fazit: Weiterhin spaßig, doch es kommt nicht an das Bleigießen heran. Doch wer will schon mit Blei spielen? Wer spielt denn schon gerne mit dem Feuer? |
