I greet you fellows.

According to wikipedia; Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle, Father Christmas, or simply Santa, is a legendary figure originating in Western Christian culture who is said to bring gifts to the homes of well-behaved ("good" or "nice") children on Christmas Eve (24 December) and the early morning hours of Christmas Day (25 December).

My personal conclusion of this short description of Santa, is he was used by the parents has a motivation figure to help children behave well and to learn good manners. But also he was a motivation even to children themselves to behave and expect that one day they will receive a candy from SANTA. Hopeful the trick worked. I know I am not righting to kids but adult who cannot be tricked by this cheap trick, but my point is this we all need to be good and to do good. We also need a motivation to do good.

Being Good
Before I go too far with this you may have some valid question in your head, questions like who is a good person or what makes a good person? I know we are coming from different cultures, we have different values and different up bringing. All these questions are valid and right but let me remind you that we also have a common ground as what makes a good person no matter what is the background. We also have share or general values in the whole world. If we choose to begin with only the common ground we have as humanity and choose to be good just at that level, a lot of pain will be eliminated in the society. I know being good is not just a cheap talk, it is big decision and it involves a lot of work. Because it is not easy to respond with love to hate. Our natural predisposition always pushes us to respond with hate, it takes a lot of inner strength to resist that urge and respond with love. It takes a lot let someone be first and you next and yet you came first. It takes a lot to be patient with people. But all these things any many other more I have not touched are important you, in making you have a soft heart I don't mean soft mind. Into creating in you a sensitive heart, otherwise you may develop a cold heart. Being also is a necessary condition to doing good, a cold heart leads to cold acts.

Doing Good.
Nobody can tell you the power of one simple deed. You may do every simple act of kindness but it may mean the world to the other person. I know somewhere we have all met ungrateful people in the journey of life and some who took or tried take advantage of our kindness. But do not let the few destroy the most needed thing in our society, kindness. You may have been hurt in the past because of your kindness you can learn or you can begin again doing kind works towards the people you know and those you do not know, we all need somebody to show us kindness time after time. How do you feel when a stranger come at your rescue in times of need, when you had no help and no hope. I'm sure you can't put it in words, and if you have never been in such a situation keep on living my friend. Anyways, I'm not calling you to be mother Theresa because you do not need to be mother Theresa to do acts of kindness. You do not need to do what is beyond you ability, just small acts of kindness are enough to bring change and create a better society.

Motivation
Being good and doing good is important to the fabric of the society. You need it, I need it and we all need it. Humanity without kindness will not survive. Every time you do an cat of kindness you plant seeds of a warm society. The future of society is in kindness. Lets be. Motivated by this fact, that we need kindness for how survival, the rewards are a better society for us all. Kindness begets kindness. There will be bad characters and ungrateful people in the society but goodness will always win.

Thank you for taking time to read this message.

Very good post @pamoja550. If you go back and look at most Christmas or ancient beliefs there has been some sort of character that has served the same purpose. Krampus, Baba Yaga and another I cannot remember for the life of me. That were used to tell children if they misbehaved then these entities would come and take them away.

I think fear has been used on children since the dawn of time. As we're seeing the kids that are not being raised with this 'fear' are far more ill-behaved than any other time in history. I do think kids should have a healthy fear of their parents. Not being afraid of being abused but a fear of disappointing them for making bad decisions. Again, this is something that has fallen by the wayside in certain areas. It does make you think.

I do believe goodness is innate. I do think we all have a different definition of what good is. So finding a common ground to grow from is paramount.

By following this practice you will save yourself some headaches. It's highly recommended!

Thank you pifc, for your much needed advice and vote, Next time I will surely do as advised.

Small acts of kindness are like a lottery:

  • Sometimes it's something that feels like a prize to those who receive them... and they'll be eternally grateful.

  • Other times, people simple ignore us altogether and don't even appreciate what we do for them.

Right?

PS: I have found your post because @cicisaja featured you in his entry for the Pay It Forward Contest

Unfortunate that is the reality we have to live with. Thank you trincowski for takinh time to comment
