Stormy skies

The theme for this July has been stormy skies.
Nearly every single night there has been an intense electrical storm on the coast here.
We keep a close watch on the weather here at the kiteboarding shop, and this has been the worst July on an eight year record for wind. July is typically one of our best months for wind, with a consistent afternoon thermal. But this year the thermal has been squashed by storm systems, cold air, and low pressure.

There is some chatter locally among the kiter scene on what this may be foretelling in the months to come. With hurricane season approaching next month we are all worried this may be the season for a landfall, given the strange phenomenon of this July. There is no science in this premonition, just a sense that all of us seem to agree on. A feeling of dread.

The ground has stayed wet this month. Even too wet to consistently mow the grass.

August is traditionally the worst month for wind... maybe we will get lucky this year.
