The Crypto Street Podcast

If you’re reading this it’s likely that you have some interest in crypto assets. To what degree may vary, but for myself, I’m in the honeymoon period where I’m trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can as I firmly believe in the movement.

Podcasts are a great way of consuming information on the go, but if they’re entertaining as well as informative then all the better. The Crypto Street podcast is one of my favourites in the space as it brings together three guys, @K1llerWh4le @CryptoDale and @13Prince31, as they share their experiences navigating the volatile markets, and discuss latest trends with other guests from the space.

When it comes to web browsers there are some dominant players, but that doesn’t means there’s not room for innovation. Brave is a browser that’s big on privacy with native support for ad and tracker blocking which also displays statistics about how much time is saved by enabling these features - neat!

But that’s not its only stand-out feature. Brave allows users to donate Basic Attention Tokens or BATs to site creators as rewards for their work and help to replace lost revenue from ad blocking.

One of the aspects of the crypto world that keeps me hooked is the ever-evolving ingenuity of the space especially when it comes to financial freedom, and Brave is just one example of this thinking in action.

Ecosia

Humans are collectively selfish. We value our own progress above all which has been know to be at the detriment of other things, such as nature. However, there are certain humans that seem to be trying to redress the balance by using innovative technology and traditional advertising models to facilitate change.

Ecosia is a search engine that donates 80% of its surplus income to planting trees - a number which is constantly shown as a ticker on their home screen.

Be warned though, their search engine is powered by Bing so may not be as effective as Google, but I feel that’s a small price to pay for giving back to the planet.

Copied

In most cases, for me, simplicity is favoured over functionality on mobile apps, and if one exists that has a limited feature set but owns the experience then I’m all for it.

Copied is a simple clipboard manager that allows you to collect and curate lists of common clipboard data such as text and images. You can use templates to reformat your text in languages like HTML or Markdown, and you can use rules to automatically add data to its relevant list. There’s a handy Today Widget that allows you quick access to recently copied data, and a companion app on macOS which syncs over iCloud to ensure consistency across devices. My inner OCD geek is jumping for joy!

Alto’s Odyssey

When it comes to iOS games I’m quite picky. I despise the Freemium model but have no hesitation in buying a standalone game if it’s beautiful design and has simplistic gameplay. Alto’s Odyssey is just that.

Alto’s Odyssey is an endless runner style sequel to Alto’s Adventure where the protagonist boards down sand dunes, jumps over rocks and caverns, avoids monkeys and skims off walls to score points, level up and unlock characters. It has a single input where a screen touch causes the boarder to jump and a longer touch performs a backflip. You can chain together tricks for multiplier scores and and with enough in-game currency, you can buy a wing suit to extend trick runs even further.

The game is absolutely gorgeous and has incredible sound design which also helps when the player wants to ignore all challenges and play a meditative style of the game called Zen Mode.

Do you stream TV and are bought into the Apple Ecosystem?
Well the Apple TV 4K could be for you, but before you decide, let me share some thoughts.

I’m currently designing an app for Steemit and would love your feedback on the branding.
