I disconnect the local phone. To focus on my reading.
I do this trying to make sure my husband does not notice.

If someone called me.
He would lift the "headset".
I would say something like: "Please, wait a moment."
Then I would go to my room and whisper:
"My love, you have a call"
That would interrupt my reading.

I enter my room
I lie on the bed
I take the book, I begin my reading.

Interestingly, the chapter begins by saying:

As always, it happens every time I unplug the phone at times when, with more or less luck, I'm writing. "
