So you are more than aware that your experiences shape your perception of the world, and the more you travel the wider that base of experience grows.
That being the case, and to draw upon those experiences and point them out to people you are discussing issues with, (who are much less well traveled) - is not virtue signalling, it is merely 'cutting to the chase'.
It is setting your stall for people to understand where you are coming from.
This is entirely different than buying an 'eco friendly ' shopping bag from the local supermarket, and then going on for three days about environmentalism.. that is virtue signaling.
'Don't talk to me about this racism shit, if you haven't experienced it, and is merely a concept in your head.'...kind of thing.
Where are you from, out of interest? Romania? Ireland? (..English?)
Why is virtue signaling talking about the environment regardless of how you spend your money? Talking about the environment is pivotal to finding solidarity in such issues, voicing concerns such as that is crucial to creating the pressure needed for action from the official channels.
You know that Morgan Freedman quip about "What do you do about racism" where he says "you stop talking about it", that's the absurdity of someone who despite a lifetime of experience cannot even comprehend that if nobody talked about racism there would still be Jim Crow Laws and Public Lynchings. It is the conversation that lubes the gears in the minds of the apathetic masses which " The Network" mocked with "just leave me alone", no, you need to shout, you must make noise, solidarity never manifests in silence, you don't change anything through the idiocy of " action not appearance" unless the act is one of speaking the truth.
Listen to some Dr. Joy DeGruy seminars about PTSS, consider that Trauma needs to be acknowledged, and only through a platform of understanding and humility can there be healing. Imagine what it takes for people to treat Gypsies with decency instead of continuing the same seemingly endless cycle that drove the Roma from India hundreds of years before Christ and the trauma of being pathologically looked down on which spawned the culture of Thieves and Frauds that prepetuates to this day as "forgoten by god" or "ordained by god to steal", a schism searching for dignity in a culture that regarded them from birth as untouchables.
