Dog's know.....and customer 'X'

I just had a memory triggered by another post, and thought it worth telling you.

It's a very nice story (for me) about my Doggy (pictured above)

I always enjoyed running the restaurant on my beach resort, and always provided excellent service and good food.

People came from far and wide for the food - those that already weren't guests on the resort.

We had a well earned reputation for good food, chilled times, and a pretty cool place to have a few beers and watch the sunsets, (which were spectacular).

..........And then customer 'X' arrived.

This is not unusual and anyone in the service/hospitality industry knows exactly who customer 'X' is. He, (or she) seems get everywhere..

After complaining that.....

a) The staff never took an order correctly (which does happen. But very occasionally with my staff at the time)
b) The olives were in olive oil, but there was not enough garlic in the garlic infusion, and the parsley wasn't fresh.
c) The spaghetti with the bolognese was not made from fresh pasta. (We are on a se asian, tropical island,btw..)
d) The french wine we imported was not very high quality (this was a low budget, travelers island)
e) The french fries side order with mayonnaise were real potato's and not powdered potato,french fries.

....actually, now I am thinking about it, I will stop there with the list of complaints. It goes on, and on..

If you have never seen basil fawlty in fawlty towers, and how he treats his customers - I would highly recommend you watch it.

I became Basil Fawlty with customer 'X'....

My regular patrons were very aware of customer 'X', and were now looking.....

They know how customer service orientated I am, and seeing customer 'X', and then my basil fawlty impersonation, people were actually laughing at the whole charade.

And then.................time for the bill...

Customer 'X' asked asked for 50% discount, as he had never been so disappointed with a meal, in all his life.

I didn't give a fuck what he thought. .

I knew my product, and my service, was more than good. It was excellent.

"I'm sorry sir, that is not acceptable, you ate all your order. Please pay your bill in full," I said, smiling through very clenched teeth...

My dog didn't clench her teeth one little bit....

(this is a open beach side restaurant, in asia - not a western 'hygienically paranoid' restaurant. The dog was not an issue. It would have been for customer 'X', if he had known she was there, no doubt!)

My dog, who lay down asleep behind the bar (the fan was there), decided she didn't like this customer much...(no prompting from me).

She came around to the customer side of the bar, went to within a couple of feet of him, and sat on her haunches, bared her teeth, and started growling at him. Calm as anything.

It was hilarious! ( my regular patrons spent many a night with my doggy sat next to them, watching the sun go down. She was a total softy and loved by everyone. She loved keeping people company.)

Except customer 'X' of course. I don't think he liked her much..

He paid the bill straight away, though...

He was then escorted - literally - by my doggy, off the resort. She stayed within a couple of yards of him, and continued growling at him all he way until he had left.

He never came back....

I gave her extra food that night...
