According to Alcubierre's theory the potential for creating a hyperdrive space warp is available - we just need to create a device which is capable of creating one of these warps, and then in theory we could travel all of space in an instant! The other difficulty with making this theory is that once the hyperdrive state is enacted through the warp then there's no way to come back out of it.
This is still in the realm of theoretical science, but I find it fascinating, and to consider that we know it's a potential shows me that perhaps ET's are aware of this potential too :)
How will we make it to other galaxies without such technology? Light years mean much less when we can bend the light space time continuum!
P.S. Thank you all for following me this far - I intend to make the journey worth while! I am starting to sit down longer with my writings before posting them so I'll be posting less, but with higher attention to quality!
Alcubierre's work is insanely interesting, amazing he's been working at some of his proofs for over 20 years. Longer posts are all the better! I'm sure many would agree quality over quantity is best. You should think about doing a more detailed post on alcubierre's drive, would be sure to give it a read!

It sent me straight down the rabbit-hole into things I had forgotten I even enjoyed (LQG, Brane Cosmology, anything written by Lubos Motl, etc...)
I have such a comparatively basic understanding of the math that I absolutely need to rely on physicists who are clever enough to dumb the information down for lay readers, which puts me in a position of having to basically trust what a select few physicists who communicate well with non-physicists (Brian Greene, Lee Smolin, old writings and videos of Feynman).
So it’s always nice to be pointed in the direction of physics ideas that may fall outside the scope of what those types of authors are writing/lecturing/blogging about.

I may very well be too undereducated to actually talk about something like this, and I’m sure I could just google it, but I like the conversation, so I figured I’d ask...Is this all that different from those Einstein-Rosen bridges wormhole things (I’m sure you are impressed by my ability to use very technical language like ‘wormhole things’)?
Hahha worm-hole things is very descriptive :) Well, I'm honestly unsure but I think you're right at least that it's based on the thought that we can stretch time out as it appears in front of us, and also shrink space, so that we are effectively moving through more space in less time.. That's what I gathered lol, amazing huh??
