Seeking Grace (Part 5)
Please check out part 4
Theo had slipped into a guardian Angel role, his day would start by shadowing Marcus as he took his dawn run through the city streets. Perching on roof tops Theo kept eye contact with his charge.
Marcus was an earlier riser, whereas Helena needed a little bit more encouragement to rise. Marcus on his return would coach his lover out of bed with a steaming cup of tea,
As Marcus took his shower dressed in a hoodie to hide her untamed mop of hair, Helena would make her way down to the market to fetch breakfast. Again Theo would not take his eyes off her.
He would watch from the shadows as the two of them ate breakfast on the terrace. Earlier in the week they had asked him to join them, but he had declined, saying in his angel form he got no pleasure or sustenance from food, but was looking forward to enjoying it once he was human.
He would watch as they drank their coffee and enjoyed their croissants and absorb the love that shone so brightly from his two parents.
After breakfast the three of them would go in to the city to study in the dark vaults of the library trying to find how they were to perform the Grace transfer.
As the weeks passed they had discovered once Theo gave up his grace, he would become human. Theo wasn't sure deep in his heart how he felt about this, but he trusted his Lord and if this was his plan then he did not question, he just believed.
Theo would sit with them at their evening meal as they ate and drank to much wine in his opinion, but he didn't judge. As when the wine flowed so did the stories. He would sit amused and at times appalled at the things they had done to each other over the years. Helena would hit him on the arm and tell him to stop being a drag that it was all good fun and helped pass the years.
But he could see that although it gave them something to remember and laugh about now, they all question had it really been their desire to harm one another, or had it just been part of Morningstars games.
When they had found the answer at first they were jolly, celebrating.
Seeing their happiness made Theo happy also and although scared of the new life a head of him, he was looking forward to the adventure ahead of him as a human.
However as they sat as usual for their evening meal, sadness had crept in, that this could be the last night they would sit together like this.
They were all thinking the same thing now and the normal jolly conversation was awkward and forced. Just making conversation for the sake of it, to avoid the real conversation.
Helena finally couldn't take it any long. "I don't want the honeymoon to end yet." That is what they had lovingly called it. This had all started just after their wedding and although at first they had been scared, when they were alone it was like a honeymoon as they were deeply in love.
She raised her voice over the pointless conversation. Theo and Marcus looked at her.
She said it again. "I don't want the honeymoon to end, I fear once the power returns it will eclipse our love again..." Tears welled in her eyes. "Before we do it, I want to make some more happy memories."
Theo smiled. "I am in no rush." He looked at them both, he hadn't told the truth, that he was their son. The times wasn't right for that truth. "I am enjoying being in both your company."
They both smiled at him, grateful that he wasn't putting any pressure of them either way. Helena continued. "We are free of him." She whispered. "Free of is manipulation and his games...."
Marcus looked shocked. "What are you saying?"
Helena looked confuse, trying to work out herself what she was saying. It took her a few minutes then she finally said.
"I don't want to return to Hell."
She bit her lip and looked at Marcus. "I don't know if a number of years down the line I will regret the decision, but in this moment, I rather say human then go back to a place where..." She broke down in tears, she didn't have to say any more. Marcus knew what she meant. Then go back to where she didn't love him.
"As Theo says we are in no rush." He kissed her brow. "Let have our honeymoon period and see how we feel a week down the line."
Helena knew that a week would only confirm her decision, that she didn't want to return. Marcus wasn't sure. He too wanted the honeymoon, to never forget how much her loved Helena, but his family were suffering. Everyday they delayed, was another day that Lucifer manipulated and played mind games with them.
