My SYMBOLS of LIFE
SOOOOOOO many people ask me about my "tattoo"
and I have to explain to them that it is not ONE tattoo...
it is MANY. Each is a symbol that has marked a specific time in my life,
holding a specific significance at "that" particular point in my life...
So, I thought I would explain the meaning behind the symbols...
MY SYMBOLS OF LIFE
THE OM SYMBOL
The very first symbol marked down my spine was the Hindu "om" symbol.
This ink marked the beginning of my freedom
and was a GREAT reminder to me that despite it all...
I am connected to "source".
The om tattoo symbolism conveys a reverence for life, an honor for creation and an understanding of the divine motion of the Universe.

CHO KU REI
Is considered one of the very first symbols utilised in Usui Reiki and essentially means “Placing all the powers of the universe here”. This power symbol acts as a “switch” which helps to instantly increase Reiki practitioner’s ability to channel the energies. The primary purpose of using it is to enhance the power of Reiki and to concentrate energy on the intended purpose. Source
MERCURY
I am a Gemini, and my planetary symbol is mercury.
Mercury in Gemini people are generally quick-witted. They can come across as somewhat scattered, and this is mainly due to their eclectic interests. They seem to know a little about everything. These natives learn best in a stimulating environment. They get bored easily, but they are fast learners. Impressionable to a fault, Mercury in Gemini people pick up more from their environment than most, and they can process information at lightning speed! Source
The restlessness of Gemini is especially obvious when Mercury is placed in the sign. There is a nervous energy here that is unmistakable. Source
TRISKELE
The triple spiral is an ancient Celtic symbol related to the sun, afterlife and reincarnation. The "3" is a sacred number in ancient Celtic mythology and religion. Riddles and triadic phraseology pepper Celtic folk lore and faerie stories. The triskel, a figure composed of three spirals, signifies the three-layered nature of a human soul, and is in itself a central figure in ancient Celtic symbolism. Source
The earth, sea, and sky share a three-fold marriage in oaths and as witness to deeds, and represent sacred elements. Source
RAKU
The lightening bolt symbol (visualized in pink or violet color) is drawn quite simply in the form of a lightning bolt, which represents the transfer of energy down from heavens to Earth, or from the healer to the receiver. This Reiki symbol is a great harmonizer and is excellent for centering energies. The major focus for this is in balancing and centering your chakras and aura Source
and so,
there you have it folks...
THOSE
are the
SYMBOLS OF MY LIFE!
so far, anyway ;)
Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx

I like the symbolisms if it would enrich our lives with positivity and liveliness.
Oh I completely agree!! And as odd as this sounds, as much as I love my symbols, I love even more that they are on the back Of me. They are a symbolic comfort, yet I am not faced with them every moment of every day....
A wonderful way to memorialize the different eras.of your life! They are all wonderful symbols....sending you Reiki love and light.

nice photos @jaynie
thank you for sharing
They look nice, and yes I believe they all have meanings behind them. Every time you go through something in life, and make it out on top, it's worth remembering. Thanks for sharing!
So much details about each symbols, interesting .
Do you practice Reiki, @jaynie?
@Jaynie I would advise you not to practice Reiki unless you learn it from a realised being because it involves the human energy system i.e. the 7 chakras and fiddling with them without knowing the depth of it just means that you're inviting unnessary trouble into your life. Rest is your decision. But I recommend that you keep the emotions and curiosity aside and take an extremely analysed decision. After all you don't want to mess up with your Wellbeing don't you?
