Improve your Steemit Posts

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

Hi Steemians

Not everyone who joins Steemit is a good writer, but we have to try. Steemit is a platform where you can read, write and learn. And one of the ways to be successful here is writing. Everyone can do it and it is not impossible or difficult.
If you are interested in writing, you need to develop your writing skills. There are some easy ways to do it and improve yourself.

  • The first step is reading, because it helps us remember new words and see how to use them. Reading make us memorize new words and sentences that we never used before. And when we start to write, we remember them whenever they are needed. Thats how I feel about it. I read books since my childhood and sometimes I use words or grammar that I never learned before.
The most of us dont have time for reading, but we can do it in the metro or bus. I read books when I wait for my dentist or in the post office. Instead of listening to music and having my monkey mind bothering me, I read books. You can do it for 30 minutes per day to refresh your memory.

  • Imagination! For me thats the most important part when it comes to writing. I write short stories and can do that only when I visualize the scenes. So actually I will be writing what I am imagining and putting thoughts into text.

  • Join a writing course or a writing group. Talk with others and get feedback on your work. It will encourage you to share your ideas with others and listen to theirs.

  • Pay attention to new words in movies or news channels. Highlight all the interesting words and even paragraphs in your books. This will expand your vocabulary and build knowledge.

  • Buy a nice notebook of your choice and write every day. Pick a topic and start writing. It doesn't have to be complex, but will help you train your mind. You can write naturally the way you speak. Nothing wrong with that, but practice regularly.

  • Edit your content at least 2 times, before you publish it. Because whenever you read it you get new ideas and discover new mistakes. If you are not in hurry to publish it, let it sit for a day and then read it again. Make it memorable by including rich details and give the readers some ideas and advises.

  • Share your opinion and don’t be afraid to say what you think. Also make it short and less complicated.

I hope you find it helpful, even if you are a good writer :)

Awesome tips! I love to read posts on steemit.

If you interact with others by making comment, it may also help to improve your writing skills. You don't have to write a lot. Just express yourself what you think after reading the post. It's a good practice, I think.

And if you get writing tips like this, your writing skills will definitely improve. Thank you @hanen for sharing this!

Yes absolutely. Reading posts on Steemit is a great help!

Good tips. I do use them, because I learn all the time. I'm a newbie here, I did wrote few things, I dont have many views. With a mass of bloggers, writters ect. I have to learn again how to write even I did wrote and published few books in my life. But web and media like this is something different. I should forget about the language, English is not my prime language and I am still learning. Well anyway I would appreciate if anyone would take time and share his opinion about my posts. But how to get there is another problem. Maybe I have to use some shocking screaming bold title to get some attention. Who knows.

Yes it is difficult at the beginning, so you need to make friends. Start with writing good comments and having followers :)

Another good advice. Thanks. True. I do read other posts as well, I do not comment often, but I see your point.

Some very good tips. I refuse to read e-books, because with a bound book, one can leaf back to reference, and leaf forward through conversation to refresh your memory of yesterday's reading so much faster and easier than any other format invented so far. When I have a business report to write, I can go to the library and have five or so bound books written by professors, on the table before me. With tabs of paper I can index read and appendix read and mark all similar of same field, then collate and precis, and write and then bind for a report in so many fewer hours that I have earned money so doing for Co's because the computer researchers cannot collate so many authors in one field of one subject in anything less than a multiple of the time I can with bound books. 😊
Resteemed

I dont like e-books too and cant read long books on my laptop or phone. Even when I write I enjoy writing on a paper first.
Thank you :)

No worries. I may not comment often, but I do try to get around to visit everyone. I am not a fast typist either. I was used to write calligraphy, and even though my writing hand is a good legible hand it never has been fast, and until I retired my typing was an office procedure better done by my typist, while I when necessary can barely get to 35wpm without five mistakes. 😂
