RE: Note to Self #7: We See Things As We Are

Great writing! There's a lot of knowledge and wisdom in what you've written.

IMO, betrayal is the one act that severs a relationship to such an extent, that the relationship usually cannot ever be recovered. Betrayal cuts ties because it's so demonstrative in its disregard for trust and friendship. It's beyond difficult to reconcile being betrayed by a person; a friend we thought we knew. When we realize we've been betrayed, the betrayer becomes just another unknown person instantly; a person we don't know and cannot trust.

Yes, betrayals would most likely fall in the toxic relationship category.

Having said that though, I've been in situations where it was an outright betrayal - even the person committing it knew it.

Then there were situations where they didn't see it as a betrayal.

Then there were situations where, what I consider as betrayal was actually someone acting with good intention. My own perception was the one that betrayed me LOL!

LOL! Human relationships are so funny and unnecessarily complicated sometimes. But it sure makes for a lot of learning and greater wisdom - even those that seem so unbearable at first .... somehow eventually become invaluable lessons in growth.

In my experience, people who no longer serve us in our leg of the journey tend to exit - some call it Karma, I just see it as LIFE being kind, loving and bringing what's best to us.

Well said, all of it.. The blog and the comment.
