Crypto For the Gaming Masses

in #blog6 years ago

Scrolling through my crypto news feed today, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the popular cultural gaming phenomenon "Fortnite" to start accepting digital currency as a payment system. So far, it has gone with Monero, as the word is they're waiting for the full implementation of the lightening network on Bitcoin to go with the mother of all cryptos. But it's an awesome step forward, without a doubt. And I believe this trend will only persevere going into 2019...

Online gaming in general, is a huge cash money maker. From the millions of "Twitch" subscribers to the enormous prize monies on offer from global tournaments. There are most definitely great potential opportunities at play here and crypto currency could provide the answer. Whilst everyone involved in still trying to figure out that "killer app" to solidify the validation of crypto's in our world, gaming could very well be it.

The overwhelming majority of the industry user base, are of a younger demographic. In other words, those of us more open to the idea of seeing crypto as a means of financial transacting moving into the future. Whereas governments are looking at ways to stifle growth as a whole, the opposite could be said for the new age mindset of millenniels. Targeting them seems a wise choice as the dinosaurs of "now" will eventually drop off, paving the way for the youth of today to embrace the technology down the line.

Crypto currency should be more prevalent within gaming events as well as in-game transactions, as the tech becomes more refined as time goes on. This latest news about "Fortnite" could be only just the beginning of a really beautiful change in the crypto landsacpe... :)

I agree but the true game changer is when you can earn assets in game to take to a market and sell! This happens already and I believe Enjin and Wax are doing something but only for a limited amount of games...

I ve heard they liked the privacy, monero provides.

Not really Sure how many transaction per second xmr is capable of but it should be slower than many others.

Agreed, but in terms of mass adoption of crypto in general, this is great news.

Dont get me wrong I am excited about those news. But also a bit sad because when big companies looking for privacey for their customers steem is out of the picture.

This. Is. Big.
