Larping Normal Life

Is this what normal people do?

It’s the weekend, so in normal people’s lives, at least what I assume, that means free time and socialising. Leaving the work stuff to work and concentrating on spending time with friends and family, doing something fun for two days.

My doings are not effected much by what day of the week it is; I’ll go to a bar on a Tuesday and sleep in on a Monday, workings through all day Sunday. This weekend is an exception as I’m trying a few things the average person probably does on a Saturday.

An old friend of mine is in town and he happens to live more typical life of working from Monday to Friday, always having weekends off, so he was my quide into the Saturday of a normal adult.

We started off by meeting for a long breakfast in the city center, catching up and gossiping. After stuffing our faces with a delicious hotel breakfast, we headed to run some errands and shop a little, stopping for the most interesting shops, though mostly window shopping. At some point we started planning on what to cook for dinner and which movie should we watch later.

At this point I realised, hey this seems like something the average couple would do on a Saturday! Interesting interesting, something I don’t have much experience of. To be honest, it didn’t feel bad at all, but further testing is needed to see if that would be something I’m interested in taking part of more regurarly. Not with this guy, he is just a friend, but a guy, some guy, like a special someone. We’ll see, maybe some day.

How is your Saturday going?

The dinner and movie are still undecided, so probably pizza and a really bad comedy from Netflix.

Sounds like a legit Saturday.

I think a person's life, and the experiences thay have, the value they find, is all within their own control. Having the right attitude towards life and the various elements of it, is key, is what I mean.

We find enjoyment in many things, some that others might find boring, and of course vice versa. I'm not a big one on shopping for instance...Hate it. But have also found some enjoyment in at times. It's situational, and the company one has at the time matters too.

We seek experiences that furnish our lives with value and sometimes they happen together and sometimes apart, and as a couple we make sure that we allow space for either. I spent yesterday at my gun club shooting for instance and was put under no guilt for doing so...And I'll support her in things she finds value in even if I don't get into them myself...That's what couples [should] do. We like our own space, but also love each other's company.

Anyway, blah blah blah I guess...Makes no difference to you. The most important thing for you, or anyone in my opinion, is that they design and create their ideal made rather than live it by default. A default life is...Well, it's something, but not one being lived to its full extent.

Sounds like you had a nice time with your mate (your friend) and that's good enough.

Well, if you are any bit familiar with me, you'll know that I don't feel any pressure to be normal and average member of the society. Though that doesn't mean I wouldn't find any pleasure in the quite mundane daily life of a normal person.

I've come to realise, especially after a year of travelling quite a lot, that places are just places, it's the company that matters quite a bit more. Though if the company you keep is not to your liking, I'd rather be on a tropical beach with said company, than walking through slush and mud in a dreadful weather in Finland.

I think I am and will always be testing things and evaluating what it is that makes me the happiest, and if not over-the-moon joyful, then at least somewhat content in the situation.

Ps. I really need to learn how to shoot.

I don't think normal exists...I mean normal for one person is probably vast difference for the next right?I'm no expert on people though, so what do I know?

Ps. I really need to learn how to shoot.

I think everyone should...But that's just my opinion and not one many would subscribe to I suppose.

A vast majority of the people I associate myself with know how to shoot, really well, so I basically have a mercenary army at my disposal if need be, but it wouldn't hurt to know how to use a gun myself too.

Sounds like you've got it all sorted.

I’ve done my chores, contemplated lunch, and essentially milled about the house. I’m taking my brother to the community center and getting a haircut. Weekend warrior style, no?

As far as movies go, Jackie Brown (1997) is a favorite of mine. Maybe takeout for dinner?

Contemplating on what to eat, an everyday struggle! You've been a good boy, hope you fit in some fun with all the responsible stuff.

How is your Saturday going?

Had a sauna, like every Saturday (we have a time to a communal sauna), and caught up with friends at a cafe. Quite average day, but pretty good.

When you have the right mindset, I think an average day can be quite pleasant.

Sounds...dangerous. You stay safe out there in normal people land, okay? ;)

I felt quite safe, but I'm also happy to be back in my lair for the next couple days.

I , too, @eveuncovered do not have 'normal work hours' thus 'weekends' don't really exist for me.

What I love is to compare a day by going to a shopping area on say Wednesday at like 11:30 am very in between times for the 'normies' and it's like a ghost town, the shop to myself, no lines. Then go on a Saturday afternoon (which I don't do often) just to see the hustle and bustle.

Sometimes I feel like I'm in a 'life simulation' and some days the NPC are just set at a higher rate of appearing.

I hope if you do find the 'weekend sharing mate' that you each have your own space. You will still need to step out of the normal routine once you've had a taste of the choice.

Also "LARPing normal life" is the best term for this.

Sounds like you had a lovely Saturday! :D I just came home after a day on tour so I'm a little bit jealous..but I had a lot of fun too so it's ok!

I was the lighting designer and choreograph for a Turku choir and we were up in Vaasa yesterday

You are such a multitalent!

Haha :D I'm just bad at saying no
