Yemen: About than 5000 Civilian casualties in 2018

This is according to the UN, and is most likely a conservative figure going by reports from other sources which puts the death toll at almost double the number recorded by the UN.

The Yemeni war has dragged on too long and has been allowed to thrive, with the Saudi led allied forces a major culprit in the civilian death toll in a bid to flush out the alleged Iranian backed Houthi rebels.

Progress to bring about lasting peace has been slow and sometimes futile. As a matter of fact, there is a clear dichotomy of efforts in that regard with militaristic support provided to the Saudis while the need for peace is mentioned.

The proposal to cut funding for the military support the Saudis get is an important first step in my view, and must be followed religiously to avoid one of the greatest humanitarian disasters in recent memory.
