THE OLD MANGOSTEEN TREE
A STORY OF OUR MANGOSTEEN TREE
Mangosteen is a kind of fruit that tastes sweet and gives many benefits for human health.
When other plants we cultivate grow healthy and fertile, at the same time also, our mangosteen tree dying and approaching the final process of life, very in pity, because we still miss the sweet taste of the fruit it produces.
A LITTLE HISTORY ABOUT IT
This Mangosteen tree has grown since I was little, its location in the garden not so far from our house, as a child, my friends and I often spend time playing in this garden, not infrequently we climb the mangosteen tree this, whether it being fruitful or does not.
In addition to this tree, we used to have some mangosteen tree trunks elsewhere, but all of them have died one by one due to age, so this mangosteen tree is our only remaining possession.
As a child growing up in the village, climbing trees is not unusual for us, on average we can do it.
Playing on the mangosteen tree is relatively safe, because the branches are flexible and the stems are sturdy, so the risk of falling due to the broken branch is very small, we used to sway on small branches while singing and cheering, as do the other children.
If the fruitful season arrives, every day I will invite friends to Pick it, the fruit is very much, bushy and big, it tastes very sweet
The fruit we picked, some of us ate together under the shade of the tree, partly I brought home to be consumed by other family members.
ABOUT OTHER FRUIT TREE
Formerly, in our area the mangosteen tree grows by itself, it is very rare to find farmers who special cultivate it, as well as the Lansium (Yellow Fruit) Durio and Lychee these trees grow from seeds that fall or are carried by herbivorous animals such as squirrels, Fruit eating Bat and some species of birds, because the soil is so fertile he will grow wild and bear fruit.
When I was a kid there were many empty gardens in our village, because the inhabitants are not yet crowded now, the first fruit trees are very easy to find in community gardens, and can be picked by anyone, because the fruit production is very much, but the market demand very little.
Now, in our village there are only a few old mangosteen trees that are still healthy, many are cut down for various purposes, the garden is shrinking due to the population growth is so high, making the garden soil turned function into a residential area, many fruit trees - the memories of our own tree.
Yet even though he has died and dried up, I have not the slightest intention of cutting it down because of the many deep impression we have shared, I will let it rot and its branches fall off gradually until it collapses by itself.
Hopefully in time, I too will be able to forget all the good memories with him.

Thank you for sharing. I've loved trees in my past also. Now living in the city there are few trees and I need to go to the park to enjoy nature's magnificent creations. As a child I loved climbing trees too, so I understand.
Thank you
