Never enough voting power / Powering up / Hunting monsters
Yoyoyo everybody. I hope you enjoyed your weekend! I tried, I mean I tried to not come onto here so I wouldn't be tempted to upvote good articles this weekend. I started the weekend with 50% voting power, and I decided I needed to fix that.
I didnt do perfect but my voting power is slowly recovering from the 50% it was to 80% now, 1 day from full power again! It sucks, there are to many good posts and good people on here. I want to upvote them all.. I know that if I had more Steem power I would still have ran out just the same. I want more SP anyways though, so once Steem levels off in the market I will be investing more into Steem. Its the only blockchain I dont have to speculate on.. Its the only blockchain I can use right now, its the only blockchain I have been using every day for months. So its an easy pick really!
Steem seems expensive right now, however I feel like if we had next years hindsight.. then we would realize that 6$ Steem is cheap. Its only expensive now with last years hindsight. So I am setting myself a short term goal. I want to hit 10,000 Steem this year, by the middle of this year even.
If you look at the chart above, its my entire voting history on the Steem blockchain. In my entire time on this platform I have a 5.3% self voting percentage. So my buying Steem Power helps everyone who uses this platform more than it helps me. On top of that, I spent 50% of my upvotes on random posts, and 45% on upvoting the people I follow. Even though I have such a low voting percentage.
In light of this it might not be the most profitable for me to buy Steem and power up. I only give myself 5% of my total votes so thats mot much money I would give myself really. I rely on other people to hopefully like or care about what I say! The simple fact is though, if we all didnt invest and self upvoted we would be giving ourselves pennies, talking to ourselves. Someone has to be willing to invest money to have voting power to give people who post good articles, so those people will keep posting. I am willing to invest more into Steem to have more power to upvote good conetent, I know there are more than just me. Thats what makes this platform work! So for all of those of you who know this, and who have invested.. thank you! You are appreciated!
What I did do this weekend though.. was to obtain and play a good chunk of the new Monster Hunter Worlds game on PS4. This is probably my 6th monster hunter game, I even played Monster Hunter XX on the switch. Even though it wasn't translated, it was hard to play.. but Monster Hunter is always worth it! This game had always been something you had to love it to play it. This newest Monster Hunter Worlds though, it is targeting the masses instead of the die hard Monster Hunter players like usual. It is definitely worth picking up! I have made it to high rank which is slightly further than most of my other friends. I have 10 friends playing and only 4 players are allowed on missions so we have had to try to work around that, but its been good. Its been really good! Without this game coming out, I would have never recovered my voting power lol!!
How was your weekend? What are your thoughts on powering up vs posting and expecting votes from people who have powered up? And Monster Hunter, do you like it or have you played it? have a ps4 and want to kill monsters? lets form a Steemit squad!

Love your outlook on powering up and self voting. I have rolled some BTC profits into STEEM and powered that up. Planning to roll more in as the market levels out. Any STEEM under $15 is a buy for me. But I did buy some at $.70 and $1.50. With all the new apps out and more on the horizon there no way it’s gonna stay cheap for long.
I have a PS4 but it mostly gets used for Battlefront and Netflix. Will have to check out Monster Hunters tho.

Exactly my feeling too. I remember when it was 1.50 and I though ehhh to expensive. Here I am getting ready to swing on anything under 6$ now, and I better do it before these apps like it dtube, dlive and dsound take off!
It's hard not to upvote sometimes. I had to leave the country just to power back up ;P
Well next time I'm definitely going to the mountains with no cell service, it would be easier to sit my voting power out from there lol
Heck one day I hope I have 1,000 steem power and a post that went viral! :) hey little shrimp like me can dream. I been pondering something and this post made me think about it again, my posts auto vote for myself when I post the little box is checked...it gives me roughly 19 cents at today's prices, is that wrong, morally wrong? Do you think some people won't vote for my posts just because I voted for myself or it doesn't matter? Now if I was worth a ton I would spread the generosity and not upvote my own stuff.this has been long debated. What's your two cents? If I stopped. My auto upvote would it attract more people?
I'm not 100% about this. There is no certain answer I guess..
I totally get why you upvote yourself. I don't think anyone here has a problem with it. Especially not when your try and taking your time posting things. I have heard some curation trails won't upvote you if you upvote yourself..
So in the end who knows, do what you feel like. As you can see, I upvote myself sometimes too. But the way I see it I often times get much more than I could give myself so sometimes my vote is better spent on others for the day. I appreciate what you post regardless if you vote for it or not yo!

Wow.... I really agree with u though but u know these things ain't easy at all. Like u said, there are so many good posts here of which one is tempted to upvote all.
Well, my weekend was great. To me, I think powering up is a good idea. It makes u impart in people's lives indirectly. Just imagine upvoting someone's post with 20$, you know how far that can make the person happy

I am even ecstatic being able to give a dollar or two voting. When Steem Backed Dollars are at the price they are my upvote is worth more than it seems.. and it feels good to be able to give it out. I try to spread it out to lots of people to keep as many people posting here as I can with my small investment!
First, I believe steem is a good investment. It could sit in Bittrex, but if I put it here powered up I gain a little more. The vast majority of my SP ( which isn't all that much yet) is my own money.
I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I have to learn from good content posters. It's a win win for me.
If I make a few extra bucks for posting, all the better.
This weekend, I had the pleasure of steeming. Heheh, still so new for me it's highly entertaining.
