My Plea to Content Creators
Everyday I feel blessed that we have platforms like Steemit, BitChute and many others where people still value freedom of speech and abhor censorship. These alternative platforms are growing steadily as more content becomes available. We can all appreciate that. However, I do see an issue where this growth unfortunately hindered by the content creators themselves.
Some content creators tend to only use alternative platforms as more of a backup channel and really only get utilized when their main channel gets terminated or suspended, etc. We have some great content creators that are on YouTube and other platforms, but only YouTube gets updated on a regular basis more or less forcing people to go on to YouTube to see the content. I personally would much rather support content creators on alternative platforms and leave the likes of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube in the dust. I don't agree with the policies and double standard community guidelines that these platforms promote.
Content creators already do a great job adding variety to the world, but that variety gets limited if it only happens on YouTube. I think the people should decide where they want to follow your content, let the market decide what platforms succeed and what platforms fall. That market cannot be created if you do not expand your content to other platforms.
On the other hand there are some content creators that do a great job of exactly what I am advocating for such as @styxhexenhammer and @pressfortruth to name only two. This approach benefits the content creators because it hedges against being them being entirely de-platformed. The downside is that it is a little more work for them to post on multiple sites. I look at it like, if you already went through the effort of creating the content to begin with, the big lift is done and its only a little more to ensure its posted to alternative platforms as well.
