Decentralized Utopia Blog #2: Four scales of happiness- instrument to achieve personal utopia
According to Dr. Happiness, Ed Diener, there are four scales of happiness. They are the following:
Subjective well-being (SWB) can be defined as how persons evaluate their lives both for the shorter such as for the last hour and for longer periods such as for the past year. It is evaluated based on the people's emotional reactions on the events in there life such as how is their marriage working.

The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) measures overall judgments of the satisfactions with one's life. If one is very happy about one's life overall, he may score very high on SWLS.
The Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE) evaluates the frequency of the positive and negative experiences based on emotional events. If a person remembers more negative events than the positive ones, he/she may score poorly in SPANCE scale.
Finally, the Flourishing Scale (FS) instruments the perception of success in major areas of life such as career, relationship, assets, self-esteem, optimism etc. If a person thinks he is lucky or achieving more than he deserve, he/she may score quite high in FS.

Achieving one's personal utopia depends on the maximizing happiness by increasing points in these four scales.
In next blog, I will discuss why people may score high or low in these scales. How we can improve our happiness by objectively increasing scores in these four scales.
