Reviewing CoinScribble - Anonymous Crypto News Platform

in #blog5 years ago

Today, I'll be taking a closer look at CoinScribble, which is an anonymous news platform that's available for anyone to freely post articles on. CoinScribble's owner contacted me, asking if I would do a review of his website and I immediately jumped on the offer.

I'm a big advocate of anonymity on the internet and I think it's very important that we have multiple platforms available where people can publish articles without having to reveal their identity. CoinScribble offers a very simple way to publish cryptocurrency-related articles and news, for people who do not have their own website.

I've encountered some bugs on the website, but nothing that prevents me from using the website.

Design & Usability

I'm personally a big fan of the simple, easy-to-use design. There's no obnoxious advertising displayed on the website, so I don't even need to run any adblocker software. I've read some comments by people who find that the design might be a little bit too minimalist, but I personally prefer it that way.

Registration is dead-simple, you just have to provide an e-mail address, username & password and you're good to go. I did encounter a little bug, logging in via the form in the side bar (marked red in image) doesn't work, you need to log in through the top login button on the menu bar.

Publishing Articles

After you've registered, you can instantly publish articles. Keep in mind that CoinScribble focuses on content related to cryptocurrency, which is also shown by the available categories under which you can publish your articles.

There is no censorship on CoinScribble, but users can downvote poor content to ensure the platform stays spam free. There's nothing stopping you to write articles containing referral links, but I'd suggest to do it in a way that it adds value to the platform.

Automatic Sharing to Social Media Platforms

Now this is possibly the most interesting feature that CoinScribble has to offer. After you've published an article, it gets shared automatically through CoinScribble's social media accounts. Meaning that your articles will appear on CoinScribble's Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit & Telegram feeds.

CoinScribble has thousands of followers on each platform, so this immediately gives your publications a decent bit of exposure. It makes sense to use CoinScribble if you want to receive some free publicity for your project. Keep in mind that this is also a great way to gain more backlinks at no cost.

Conclusion

While CoinScribble offers no rewards for posting like Steemit does, the fact that content is automatically shared on various social media platforms gives people a great incentive to post there. It's also completely free to use and you're able to use CoinScribble to freely promote any cryptocurrency-related projects.

The platform itself is still a little bit rough around the edges, but all basic functionality is present. I'd say it's also fairly active, with new content being added daily. While it may not be viable to use this platform exclusively, it can certainly provide a great secondary role for publishing announcements & general crypto-related articles.

Very cool. I might have to check this out. Since it is anonymous, do they not do much with plagiarism? Just curious. It seems like it might be easy to grab an article from somewhere else and just post it. Great job covering this. I prefer the minimal approach as well. There is something to be said for a nice clean website.

I think it's fully curated by the community, so they would expect plagiarized content to get downvotes.
Also, I don't know how it would be popular to plagiarize, since you don't get any rewards from the website itself.

Good points. Thanks for clarifying!

Interesting... but if there's no financial incentive, is there another incentive to try and get upvotes? Does it give you a bigger chance of your post being seen, for example? I'll have to look into this further! Sounds interesting.

Yeah, the more upvotes your post gets, the higher it's position will be on the website. As far as I know, there are no other financial incentives, but you can always find ways to monetize the article itself.

I had never heard of this site before, I don't write anything about crypto but I love to learn about it and the more information I can read the better for me it would seem.
Thanks.

I had never heard of it before this review, great review and I am off to check it out now

I find that anonymity is a mixed bag. There are sometimes when it is incredibly useful (whistle-blowing)... and others when it is a shield against taking responsibility for what you publish. However, that said, the tool is not the problem... it is really the people.

I hope they have a dark theme... all that white hurts my eyes! But apart from that, it does look like it is an interesting site and service. Another crypto news source is a nice thing to have...
