The Q Everyone is Asking-- How Do I Get People to Actually Read My Blog?

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

There are a hell of a lot of blogs out there, but with a ton of blogs also comes a ton of readers. But how to gain the attention of all those readers remains the key to a successful blog.

I’m still trying to figure this out to be honest. I’ve been blogging here on steemit since late November of 2017 and still have yet to captivate a sustainable audience that read my blog posts on a consistent basis. But this hasn’t stopped me from continuing to post regularly.

Because this factor is one of the most important factors in determining whether or not your blog will be successful- remaining consistent AND being persistent.

First, you’ll want to find your mission. What do you want your blog to be focused on?

Well, I am sure you will want to go with something that you are personally passionate about. This will make blogging that much easier, and, not to mention fun, at the same time. Also, you will want to be sure that it is something you know a little bit about, too.

It could also be geared toward a topic that you want to learn more about. This is what I personally have done with my blog. I have made it a blend of a little bit of everything because I have a number of passions, and also want to learn about new areas of concern where my understanding may be limited.

I did not want to limit my abilities as a blogger and only focus on one particular topic. This, to me, would be pretty boring after a few months. That’s not what I want. I want to continue producing content for years to come because I am really enjoying myself, even though I have to pay to do so.

Next, be consistent; remain consistent.

For me, I try to post every day, once a day. The content I post is well thought out and takes some time to create. That said, I can’t post 5-10 times per day like some users. I revolve steemit around my daily lifestyle, so it’s just a part-time thing for me at the time.

I have found once a day to be perfect for what I am trying to accomplish, so I am content with this amount of consistency. Sometimes I am feeling ambitious and will go for two posts in a day, but this happens relatively infrequently and depends on a number of factors.

It also may help you to create an editorial calendar where you specifically map out when and what you want to blog about. This will help you to hit your goals and stay on top of hitting the ‘once a day,’ or a ‘few times a week’ posting objective.

Stay inspired, regardless of the number of readers you have

In other words, work until you get noticed. It may take some time, but in the end, it will all be worth it.

If you have a niche or a topic you always talk about, it may begin to get a little harder to come up with content to post about. If this happens, then try turning to your audience and asking them what they want to hear. Hopefully, if you have a loyal following, then you will get some responses to help your cause.

DO THESE 3 THINGS FOR OPTIMUM SUCCESS:

1)Content is key. Be sure that you are putting out your best content. Nobody wants to read garbage, so keep the trash in the bag.

2)Share your stuff on other forms of social media. This will help improve traffic flow to your page. The more eyes reaching your blog, the better.

3)Be a curator, as well as a content creator. This is the best way to build relationships and connect with other users. If you show up on someone else’s blog, then this will significantly increase the chances of them returning the favor. In other words, what goes around comes around.

Starting and building a blog takes time and a lot of effort. Consistently working at it, and writing about things you love, while engaging with your readers will ensure success.

Wishing you all the best of luck with your Steemit journey and beyond!!

I'm glad I came across your blog today @conradsuperb! I just switched abruptly from photography to audio recording topics after moving and having our studio renovated, so I was kinda worried I might've lost some readers or photo-viewers. But you're right by saying sticking to a single topic or niche can be boring. I guess transitioning gradually or coming back to a previous genre/topic every now and then is better.

Glad you were able to find me, too! And maybe this transition of yours was beneficial, and instead of losing readers or photo-viewers, you gained some!! That would be the ideal scenario in your case for sure. Hopefully people will see the value of what you have to offer based on the diversity of your content moving forward.

I would say that it's good to experiment and feel out what your audience relates to. Sometimes people might like a bit or both, so it is definitely worth a try. I definitely don't think this is going to hurt your blog or following by any means.

Best of luck with everything in store!!

This is a great summary! I always ask myself the same question How many people do actually read my blog? :) But I will just keep writing...

Thanks @lovablesoul always love hearing from you. Appreciate you coming by and giving me some feedback, as usual. It's a question that we all have to ask ourselves, and is valid because readers are few and far between around here

I have the same question in my mind. Nice point....

Definitely something we have to think about. It's hard to get people to continuously visit your blog, but I hope one day this isn't an issue for either one of us
