What Steem Has Done to Me

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

Ever since I began using Steem back in August last year, it has done a lot to me. I looked back from then until now and it has definitely changed me.

Enjoy Blogging

I was never into social media prior to Steem. I never thought it was something I could get into since I like my privacy and I am not great with writing. I slowly began to create posts and over time and I ended up liking the way Steem was designed. Of course, I enjoyed getting rewards but many others were learning from what I was blogging and the information I was providing was helping educate others.

Since this is a new platform, I saw the value in growing the community and blogging was one way that could help do it. Getting information out there for others to take in and could gain value themselves from it. Having content creation and crypto-currency merged together was a perfect way to grow blockchain technology and making Steem a go to source for information in crypto-currency and everything else.

Changed My Thinking

Steem has changed the way I think about social media and many other things. Reading other Steemians blogs from their thoughts to ways of making Steem better has helped me look at things differently. This is not the usual type of social media and grasping the concept of DPOS has brought new ideas to not only Steem, but to the entire crypto-currency ecosystem. Now that has made me think of ways to utilize this type of governance model in not only a business aspect but also socially outside from Steem.

I am always looking trying to think of new ideas to help with the growth of this platform and how I can bring more value to Steem.

Gain weight

I'll admit it and I know many of you on here have gone through the same thing. I have gained some weight sitting on the computer and trying to be active with Steem and the community. It can take some time to get that post done and communicating with other Steemians. A lot of the times I don't want to go do other things and just Steem all day!

Reading great posts and watching the price of STEEM every day has made me so fat. I blame Steem for this...

Just kidding about the blame. Of course, it's my own fault and I need to get my ass off the chair and be more active, which I have been lately to lose some of this weight. I just wanted to throw this in this post for some laughs but it's true, I have been neglectful when it comes to my weight and now I set time to exercise and be active instead of Steem all day every day.

Educated

I definitely learned a lot ranging from Steem, crypto-currencies, trading, and a whole lot more. I continue to learn more every day being on this platform especially from other's content.

I remember when I didn't know anything about crypto-currency except Bitcoin. As a former backup-witness, I learned quite a bit on how the Steem blockchian worked and although there's a ton more I need to learn, I am not able to be committed to it as a witness should be because my parents are having health issues and having to become a bit of a care taker for the time being so I do apologize to those that showed me support during my time as a backup-witness and helped me learn the ways.

Meet New People

I think one of the best things Steem has done to me was allowed me to meet a whole ton of new people. People that I have learned a lot from and new people I get to help to learn about Steem and crypto-currency.

There are all kinds of people and from all over the world and this platform has helped connect us and come closer together and at the same time earn some rewards.

I have gained new followers and I'd like to thank my followers. I appreciate those that take the time to read my blogs and I look forward to reading yours.

With all that said, Steem has done good to me 😊

really enjoyed reading this. your a good author keep up all the good work!

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words.

So, here you are @bitcoinparadise! I appreciate the resteem and support! I also appreciate the encouragement you provide to all of us in Steemverse. There is something really special about what happens to many of us as we step into this strange new world of a social media platform actually rewards good content and good behavior. Anyways, you rock!

It pays to help each other on this platform and that's part of the goal is to reward good content and combat fake news/misinformation. I am just here to help. I appreciate the comment :)

happy to be following :)

Thank you! Ugh the user base is starting to grow so much that it's hard to keep track of everyone. Sorry If I haven't been showing you more support.

Steemit has helped me be more purposeful in some of the things I do, I'm loving it so far!

That's great! Gotta have a purpose.

My favorite thing about steemit (and I don't know if it's all in my head) is that it seems like there's a lot less negativity on the site. Even when a blog is about a negative event or something, there just seems to be a lighter atmosphere. Maybe it's just the relative lack of negative comments.
EDIT: Even cheers me up when I'm in a bad mood. (that website better give me my money back UUGG).

There is drama here and there just like any other social media site. But I do think there is a bit more positivity because this platform is new and a lot of us have a common goal that we want to see Steem succeed.

Yes, while the ability to find/organise posts/communities is a negative, it's perhaps also a positive in that the drama is tougher to find also!

" I have gained some weight sitting on the computer and trying to be active with Steem and the community."

Oh, no. I want to lose weight! :)

Hehe yes, it can happen :P

I can relate. I couldn't get past the narcissists climbing over each other for attention on the usual sites. I know there are good communities there, but I don't want to support the model. Steemit, for me, has been a place for me to post some content I can refer people to later, and make a little crypto. Good post. :)

I agree. Thank you for the comment.

I would agree with all the above!

Loved the article.. I guess we all have our own Steemit journey. Loving the space thank you for sharing.

Thank you. I'm sure your journey will be a lot different. Times were a lot harder when STEEM was worth only 7 cents at one point.
