ManCave Pt 1. Recycling a Bed to Make a Table.

in #blog5 years ago

I'm all for recycling and doing my bit to save things from going to landfills, this is why I have been saving the wood from a single bed in my out house.

I decided that my man cave needed a table in it to do the projects on, and this was a perfect opportunity to build from something that would have normally gone to tip.

I started by measuring the coal house, this is to make sure that everything I was to cut would fit in there, it turned out I only needed 62" so the bed wood needed cutting down a bit.

I then found some hard board that I would make into the table as well and I couldn't believe it when I placed them on because they fit a dream. this means no waste as I don't have to cut it down.

I had some old legs from a table that I used for another project and cut some 3 x 2's down to the same height as the legs, then placed it all together in the coal shed to see how it would look.

I then countersunk the holes for the screws and screwed it all together to make it nice and sturdy, just to make sure it was as solid as I would have liked I ran a bead of silicon around the table, this way I know that it isn't going to fall and squish one of my kids :D

It all went well, I have some pointing up to do in there to make it waterproof as it has damp, and a coat of paint and I am away,

So looking forward to using it to make my videos, lets just hope that I can point up this week end and make a start on the videos beginning of next week :D

Looking good.

And looking forward to the videos...

Still editing lol. it is a nightmare when you first start editing, but I think it will get easier the more I do.

Video editing is something I am keen to learn.

What software are you using?

Openshot, video editor.
It's open sauce and was recommended to me a year or so ago when I did them practical joke videos on @wrongjohn.
Back then I had a high spec PC and it ran a dream, on my laptop it doesn't seem to want to work as it is overheating it.
The only problem with the videos back then was @wrongjohn editored the videos and I just sat back and watched.

Looks like I am going to have to buy another PC to work this software, there is also plenty of tutorials on the web to work it too so it shouldn't be to hard to do. (or so i thought)

Thanks - will check that one out.
