Premiere in the Netherlands, where a real estate developer raises, in Eindhoven, the world's first housing unit.

It is a whole neighborhood of houses, with unconventional appearance, but that respects all the security rules in force. The technology and the robot have been developed by the Technical University of Eindhoven.

In a residential area near Eindhoven Airport, the first residential neighborhood is erected to the 3D printer. They will be for families with at least two children.

City University of Technology created the printer - a robotic arm that can be lifted up to 4-5 meters and moves over a length of 12 meters and a width of 5.

Just as the toothpaste comes out of a tube, the print head places successive layers of concrete, faithfully following the plan of the future home. The new technology has been developed in a few years.

Theo Salet, University Professor: "The concrete you are printing is soft as a paste, you can grab it and mold it with your hand. If the printer is moving too fast, the layers do not get enough stiffness. At the same time, if the printer is too slow, the previous layer is already hardening and there is no good adhesion to the new layer. We need to determine what is the best frequency for successive layers. "

Houses built after this technology meet all the resistance standards. Finally, the walls contain, between an outer layer and an inner layer, insulation material. In addition, they are "armed" with metallic threads, also inserted with the help of the robot. Moreover, the material used in the construction comes out of the print head exactly in the required quantity. So, without waste.

Theo Salet: "This technology is different from the usual casting of cement. And we think it's better to use it in a hall, not in the open air where the wind can rain or blow. We prefer to print the items in an enclosure and then transport and assemble them. The only limitation is the size of the means of transport. Think about shipping containers, for example. "

The first house - with three rooms and an area of 95 square meters - is to be taught by the middle of next year. But in the printed neighborhood there will be larger, upstairs houses.
