A TRIP TO MUGHAL GARDENS (EXCERPTS WITH PHOTOS) - DEDICATED TO #HHG 10 FOR FLOWER CHALLENGE

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

Dear friends,

These are excerpts from my travel blog on a visit to a famous garden in India. There are so many gardens spread across the country most of which are famous since long time.

The following are part of my travel blog to one of the famous gardens in the capital city with photos. The topic for HHG's 10th episode is Flower Challenge and I thought this may be highly suitable for the same.

Please read on..

Month of February and March in Delhi or whole of North is almost a funny time for outing. For those who enjoys cool climate this might be perfect weeks of an year to roam without using many stuffs over usual outing outfit compared with the previous few weeks survived. The statement is to paint the picture of how cold Delhi would be in its peak winter.

Waiting in a relatively long queue in a foggy weekend morning when many of the colleagues were likely to be under the blanket made one of the perfect Sunday spent in the capital. A sense of pride was evident in most of the faces who were good enough to beat the climatic inconvenience for entering into the most important and secured piece of land in the capital of India.

Some history is hard to erase or replicate or replace. The Mughal dynasty was ruled over different parts of India many centuries ago but some contributions made by them is still not expired but knows by name even now. Mughal gardens are one such lovely locations existing in many places like Delhi, Agra, Sri Nagar with its charmness intact where thousands of people still finds time to pay a visit for.

The credit for the designing of the gardens too goes to him while he tried to incorporate many aspects left by Mughals. These were the brief history that was conveyed by the leader of a group that accompanied with us as a value addition prior to entering the garden. The fact remains that neither it is in memory about what is Mughal style of gardening nor can recollect about English way of flowering or plants. The only word familiar with Delhi life was Lyutens of course.

These historical messages were immaterial by the time we entered inside the garden as we were exposed to a rare sight which looked like fireworks containing all the colors in the world were landed safely in a green blanket. Eyes were recognizing only colors with different shapes and sizes first, leaving the rest of the things and atmosphere taking a backseat. Then the beautiful big rectangular shape Rangoli laid with different flowers in different colors very close to the main entrance caught the eyes. It was like an Indian way of welcoming others seen in many homes in many places especially in south.

There were many separations and identification for each parts of the area like rectangular garden, circular garden and long garden etc. It was a feast for eyes to watch each different type of flowers and plants in the cool climate covered over the whole area. The entire huge area with colorful plants and designs with water canals, walk ways in between and the RB building at the far end with the morning mist of winter was delight to watch for all. Surveillance from security was so negligible compared with what we expected as only very few police men were seen here and there which came as a surprise.

Around 150 types of roses might had brought from different part of the universe as per the information given to us, many varieties of bougainvilles, daffodils etc etc were planted and maintained with utmost care. One more important variety was Tulips which may not be familiar across India that it is only to be seen how attractive is that, to get a brief know how on its importance is that, one season in the month of April is dedicated Tulip flowers in Sri Nagar.

Some roses have name of Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Belami, Black Lady, Paradise, Blue Moon and Lady X. Mother Teresa, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Mr. Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Jawaharlal, Queen Elizabeth, Christian Dior. Arjun and Bhima from Mahabharta were also in the list.

But the most striking name was LOVE given to a violet color flower which might be symbolical gesture of appreciating the authorities or the respected Presidents who were agreed to open their private complex to common man or Mango man reflecting the true meaning of Democracy.

Hope you all like it...Please comment your thoughts on this

Delhi is a place that days, weeks and months are not enough to make a round to all possible places. Delhi is like a centre point that lots tourist spots with one or two days trip and even to see complete Delhi you need at least 7 to 10 days. I was lucky to be in Delhi for few years that I gone to most of the places that i will write later.

You should visit once and plan it whenever you can.

Hi @angelro - You blog makes for a very interesting read. I really enjoy the narrative about these famous Indian gardens.

From my side though it seems that some of the pictures have not opened correctly, which would certainly have enhance the post. Perhaps you shoul see if there is a way to manipulate them to display OR reload.
