"Zoom out every now and then"

in #blog7 years ago

You may have heard this saying if you have been involved with crypto trading or investing.

I think its something that isn't said often enough though.
It seems lately people have been bombarded and spammed with so much scams, fakes and other stuff promising them a quick profit if you invest in their new social platform or new company that everyone is getting so tired from hearing it. Not to mention how everything has to get done quick nowadays, people always in a hurry and looking for that quick entertainment or satisfaction instead of being patient.

People you used to know, have turned into these "sales" persons suddenly, always trying to get you to put money either indirectly or directly onto their hands in promises of fast and big wealths. In fact it has been happening so often that the trust is almost gone completely and getting that trust back is very difficult.

I realize that many people that look at Steemit today or did a year ago had that inner "sounds too good to be true" feeling and I can totally understand it.

What I tell my friends and users who ask for advice is that the innovation is real, its useful, its powerful and it has so many advantages that we can't even comprehend or anticipate at this early stage just yet.

Its bigger then you and me and all of us here today. Its here though, it happened, you are one of the lucky ones who against many odds and competition happened to hear about it and decided to read more and if you were lucky you re-searched enough about it to actually understand the innovation, or a small part of it.

I've been awaiting a new project that truly introduces newcomers to the advantages of block-chain technology for a long time. I am glad Steemit is and will be one of the most effective ones to educate newcomers on the advantages this new innovation brings us.

Not to mention the difference of this project compared to the other "big ones", that's a whole other post and many others who describe it much better than me. But to go back about the saying in the title.

Zoom out every now and then and look at the big picture.

Here is an image of the full Poloniex chart of Steem since it was added on there. The grey bars behind the price represent the volume of trades. I think this image speaks for itself in which phase we could be in right now and considering how new this project is compared to many others but how quickly it is growing and gaining attention.

Best advice and meme that is still true today is this, in my opinion. But like always, this is just an opinion and should not be taken serious or to jeopardize funds you can't afford to lose. Always invest wisely.

Best part about Steem is that you can earn it in many different ways and you don't have to buy expensive computers that are rendered useless for anything else than mining.

My friend, you summaries something very well that I try to explain to my friends and they do not understand. They find it hard to believe that I'm generating money by simply publishing stories. It's too good to be real, I think they think. I hope our community continues to grow and that steemit is what we all want it to be. Cheers my friend, it's time to toast and celebrate because this is starting to become real. Big hug!

I didn't think much and kept on going and now?
Glad I did:)

I realize that many people that look at Steemit today or did a year ago had that inner "sounds too good to be true" feeling and I can totally understand it.

Im one of that people who had that it's too good to be true thought! and look on how things turned out to be now! unbelievable right! that's the Crypto world you'll never know what happens lol
Lovely post HODL :D

Great advice! There's something to be said about being short sighted. Perhaps we are wired that way because of our lifespan. But, it's really to our advantage if we calm ourselves and look at the big picture. If we don't give in to the hype, we set ourselves up for larger rewards.

Very well said!

Thanks

I find this price to be very comfortable but I know it could rocket up quickly with a few major players or a few thousand small ones.

I also thought it sounded too good to be true. I'm still kind of shocked!

The block-chain effect. :D

That's definitely true, but the thing the bothers me about steem is that the whales keep whaling and the minnows rarely get anywhere. I just made a post myself that earned $1 48 in an hour https://steemit.com/news/@jeezzle/cheap-cell-phone-service-that-doesn-t-suck-a-review-of-tello-mobile. It took me about 2 hours to write. Your post already has $14 in 10 minutes and is likely to earn you like $70. Now, I guess there's nothing wrong with that because it's just about moving up the food chain, but I do wish it was a faster process. Great post though, as always.

How's the process to make it as a successful youtuber?

What about needing to have 10k followers to even be able to monetize your content for ad revenue?

I have no idea about that Youtube process but it does sound tough. Having said that, I know you're on my steemvoter and a lot of others steemvoter too. I had to pause it right now because my voting power is low, but these automatic voters are voting for the whales and people that make money, because they want to make money by curating, I think that's a flaw in the steem process. It definitely prevents new users from getting anywhere because it ensures people like trafalger, jrcornell, cryptoctopus, you, ace08, mynameisbrian, etc..... will always get votes. Now don't get me wrong, I really love your posts and I'm grateful that you followed me, but I think in general, this sort of thing really makes it difficult for the new minnows to get anywhere.

No project is perfect.
I've spent a long time myself not earning much and trying to tell people to value comments more, for example. It took a lot of time, dedication and endurance to get where I am today and to be able to help distribute value as effective and wide as possible knowing it is helping motivate users and authors to really see this as the social platform it is but with blockchain technology improving the advantages for everyone on a whole other level.

Here is a short list about my curation and amounts of the last week, for example. Even though there are many nowadays curating the same way and with the same mindset, I can't help but feel to be one of those who is helping the platform grow naturally by letting them know that their voice is worth something.

and thanks for the follow btw, most that follow my curation trail know or might have read about my goal and that I've been working towards it for a long time and growing the trail slowly day after day.

I think you're a great poster and I didn't mean it as a negative towards you at all...... just as a general thing about steem that I think is kind of weird since you were talking about newcomers. I definitely do think you're helping the platform and you're one of my favorite posters.

Yeah, no worries. I've just been getting some comments lately and chats about users saying its unfair that my posts make this and that while their's don't.

Many times its also newcomers or accounts coming back now because of the price, not realizing the time and efforts I've put in on and off the platform for Steem. Not to mention the long posting breaks and focusing on interactivity when steem price was on a downtrend and users leaving left and right or causing FUD. :p

I see you around quite a bit. I really just run into you randomly. I always seem to learn something from comments that you make and this conversation was just that..... a learning experience.

Even I keep learning new things about the platform now and then even though I've been here daily for a year now. :)

nice post, bro my entire family is skeptical about this, they be looking at me like if i'm nuts.

Thanks for your post, you described it very well and i could understand, as u know my english is not perfect. I believe in steem :-) :-)

Glad that the text was easy to read. ^^

About why the picture is sideways.

I just wanted you to focus on the volume bars and how they look now compared to a year ago.
