in #blocktrades7 years ago

BlockTrades recently posted about its website developments and here's what you NEED to know.

Delegations Are coming Back In Two Weeks! (or so)

Yes, It's true! Sales of delegations are coming back! According to BlockTrades:

In total there are about 12 "Key Points" that where addressed:

  • Sale of delegations will be re-enabled some time in the next 2 weeks or so
  • Continued focus on reducing/mitigating user mistakes
  • Auto-fix (when possible) bad memos where destination address was mistakenly entered
  • Auto-fix (when possible) transactions where Steem was sent instead of SBD (or vice-versa)
  • Auto-refund of Steem/SBD sent with a bad memo
  • Allow re-use of deposit addresses associated with Steem account creation to buy more Steem
  • Ability to fix some transactions where user sends wrong coin type to “compatible” address
  • Increased the recommended minimum amount for buying Steem account
  • Improvements to our internal administrative panels for support personnel
  • Added web site “revision numbers”
  • Performance improvements to handle the load from large numbers of customers
  • Help prevent accidental transfers to “phishing” accounts on Steem and BitShares blockchains

The original post breaks down each key point individually. I will talk about the ones that stuck out the most to ME.

I encourage you to read the entire post yourself. - (After you read this of course.)

Background (Invisible) Updates

If you've use BlockTrades in the last week you probably didn't notice any changes. - At least I didn't.

Relax folks this is by design. Most of the changes and updates are things that we technically don't see.

If you accidentally sent Steem to a Steem dollar address and the system auto-corrected the transaction and processed it, you wouldn't "see" the change but I'm sure you would appreciate it! This is an example, according to BlockTrades:

"We can’t in all cases fix this problem, because we can’t always be sure of what is the “correct” destination to send to, but often we can, and in such cases our system will auto-correct the transaction and process it now."

If you accidentally send LTC to a BTC address it may be possible to retrieve your coin!

Now I've never personally sent the wrong coin to an address but I imagine that this happens ALOT. In 99% of those cases (before you google that stat, I made it up..) the coin is simply LOST! So if there is a possibility of getting it back, BE HAPPY!

To have a clear understanding on how this works:

Visual Update

If you look in the bottom left corner of the site, you will notice the addition of website “revision numbers.”

Although small in size, this update is big because it ensures users are "up-to-date". BlockTrades is also in the process of adding code to notify users that a update is available. - Imagine you are using the site then BAM! You are notified an update is available.

First Shall be Last and Last Shall Be First!

Delegations - Probably the most anticipated update is due in "two weeks or so" or "one week or so" since I'm writing this one week after update was released.

BlockTrades has said specifically regarding this matter: "We will not provide any more guidance on an exact time when this will happen." - So its best to just keep an eye out and not expect a exact date.

First of all, if you have made it this far I appreciate you! (I really do)

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

I think besides your password, knowing how to properly manage and move your funds is the #1 thing you should know in crytpo.

Having complete and total control over your money is POWERFUL but it also comes with GREAT RESPONSIBILITY.

Taking a few mins to back up your password can be invaluable. The same with reading updates from any exchange or platform you plan on using to transfer or buy coin. - So take the time to read the FULL UPDATE HERE

I hope this helps.
