What is a blockchain? In less than 100 words!
A blockchain is just a registry, a ledger, a record that is maintained secure by computers coming to agreements about mathematical problems.
It's easier to trick 3 computers than 3,000 computers, the blockchain is the program which connects the machines that are holding the records to make sure that they all match.
For taking on the job of making sure everything is adding up on the ledger, the owners of these devices get rewarded automatically with newly created tokens which are necessary to record information on the very same registry.
