CROWDSOURCING this is usually done online via websites where people can donate. the pooling of resources such as information or money contributed by the general population, to a goal.
PROOF-OF-WORK a proof of work is a piece of data which is easy for others to verify and which satisfies certain requirements. is difficult (costly, time-consuming) to produce.
BIP148 often this comes with a severe attack on the network, creating an army of ‘zombie’ computers who simultaneously flood a targeted website or network with requests. can cause a sustained downtime on said network or even make them crash completely. a very dangerous threat for cryptocurrency users.
COLD STORAGE these wallets are known as “cold wallets”. this could be in the form of a hardware wallet, usb stick or a paper wallet. the safest way to store your private keys is by keeping them offline in “cold storage”.
CRYPTOGRAPHIC HASH FUNCTION its syntax is similar to that of javascript, and it is intended to compile into bytecode for the ethereum virtual machine(evm). solidity is ethereum’s programming language for developing smart contracts.
DISTRIBUTED DENIAL OF SERVICE (DDOS) it uses a lot of computing power and processing time, forcing miners to form mining pools to capture gains. sha-256 is a cryptographic algorithm used by cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin.
SHA-256 since old nodes will recognize the new blocks as valid, a softfork is backward-compatible. a softfork is a change to the bitcoin protocol wherein only previously valid blocks/transactions are made invalid. this kind of fork requires only a majority of the miners upgrading to enforce the new rules
SOLIDITY the more bitcoin or altcoin owned by a miner, the more mining power he or she has. concept states that a person can mine or validate block transactions according to how many coins he or she holds.
PROOF- OF- STAKE (POS) it was designed to cause the existing segwit masf deployment to cause activation in all existing segwit capable node software. currently is 80% of the network nodes. bip148 is a user activated soft fork - uasf.
SOFTFORK the sha-256 computational algorithm is an example of a cryptographic hash. cryptographic hashes produce a fixed-size and unique hash value from variable-size transaction input.
