New blockchain based apps I like: Zappl and Viewly
Zappl is starting in a few days with its beta. I watched the released teasers and talked to the developers and I'm very curious to see the twitter-like app running. (I partecipated in the crowfunding too, some months ago. And it is still possible to invest in the project)
The Zappl Open Beta will start in about a week. How it will work? The video teasers show a bit of it. Zappl will be, as far as I understand, a microblogging platform - like Twitter is - based on the Steem blockchain. You can see the videos on Zappl's YouTube account. The last news about Zappl are also on Telegram and Discord.
How will this thing work? Getting rewards for microblogging posts sounds nice, but It could need time to get a good number of users, even with the incentive of the reward. Probably it will depend on how the Steem community will accept and use Zappl. The Steem community is still not so large, but it is very active. Are Steemians - even the whales - going to use Zappl? We will see.
Check @zappl for more news.

Viewly is a decentralized and censorship free video hosting platform. The alpha is running already. I uploaded some videos myself. On Telegram Viewly channel there is a draft of the whitepaper, with a roadmap that considers the public launch to happen around the end of 2018.
The most interesting idea in the Viewly project, In My Opinion, is the monetization model and the handling of the ads. Content creators and their fans are at the center of the project.
At the heart of the Viewly platform lies a patronage model that enables fans to support creators directly, beyond views and watch time and likes.
Viewly will launch its own token and its blockchain. At the moment it leans on Steem.
More info about Viewly are available in the FAQ.
The draft of the Whitepaper is here.

I'm very curious and interested in these new apps. I'm looking forward to see how they will work and how their approach will change the web - and the world.
I hope this works out... it would be amazing for Steemit if they can get an audience, and there's clearly a lot of people looking for a Twitter alternative.
My only concern is I don't really understand how they can justify their $12 million valuation. I really hope this isn't a case of too much hype.
I don't know about the technical stuff. I hope it will be another good way to add users to steem and have to community growing.
Can't wait for Zappl ( I invested) I didn't get into Viewly nor Dtube yet but I am not a big video posting person.
I invested too. Looking forward for the beta launch! :)
Non conoscevo zappl. Mi documento. Grazie!
This could be a nice alternative to stuff like twitter. All these decentralized apps would be even more effective if we get the decentralized web going.
Thank you for your post.
Nice article, excited for both platforms! Although Viewly should stick with steem in my opinion.
Cool, I'm curious in it! Keep us updated if possible....
Cool... You can explain how Zappl works when they get up and running. I'm an idiot when it comes to these things. I wanted to invest but they wanted $10,000 and I just didn't have it laying around!
I don't understand why everyone is fighting about this...
I don't want to sign an NDA, so I didn't.
I don't want to invest $12k, so I didn't.
They are ASKING for investments, not extorting them.
If you don't like it don't invest.
Matt's concerns are reasonable his tone is over the top.
The responses don't envoke trust for me.
Invest or not.. Buyer Beware.
