Web 3.0: Democratising Content Creation Returns Across the Internet.

Blockchain platforms is all about decentralization. But what does it mean to our personal information, photography, videos, search history that we use to register and give in on various websites?

We mustn't forget that the original intent of the internet was to create a library of information. A library that would allow accessibility and free flow of information among computer users connected under the same network. Web 2.0 marketing strategy, if we can put it in simpler terms without anchoring on the community of critics and experts, is about connecting to each other. With the abundant information that is being generated and put online since day one, it is only natural that there would be some sort of middleman that categorize and relays all of these data to the specificity of the end-user. This is where, we have arrived to know and impart the use of tech giants' platforms such as Google, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook in our daily lives. Underneath the words connecting to "each other" lie multiple meaning that we hope to elaborate on as simple as possible in order to understand why blockchain will become a pillar of web 3.0 to move away from a broken system, assembled and perfected by just a few.

We've witnessed from several media outlets, tech giants such as Google and Facebook recently came under heavy fire when it was discovered that our personal data was being used, and maybe even sold to other companies. Through well thought out algorithm, our own data are being used to target ourselves with things that we could have never thought of needing or buying.

Have you experience seeing a particular product that follows you anywhere in google? That's customer targeting by google. As all of our information is centralized and analyzed to predict our habits, interest, and preferences, we are left but to play by the rules of the giants.

By connecting to each other through the tech giants centralized platforms as a content creator, we are subjected through the pressure of both tech giants and sponsoring companies to spend more time creating contents with little returns. This is especially true for You Tubers. In turn, these platforms acquire vast amount of personal preferences, turning these information for targeted and sponsored advertisements. Making a triple win from the audience, content creators and sponsoring companies that are advertising through their platform.

In sum, a vicious cycle that we have learnt to accept and take it as normality at the expense of our valuable personal information and content creation.

This can change.

Today, we can see numerous blockchain based startups taking birth reinventing business models that relies on content generation. The innovation that is taking place through this technology is allowing us to shift from a centralized information source to a decentralized ecosystem where your buy-in point is through acquiring what we call today "coins" or "tokens". You do it so by accessing the different blockchains through the regular web.

Without us even noticing, the foundation of Web 3.0, being one of the underdogs behind the blockchain and coin craze, has been laid. But what is Web 3.0? Nobody really knows it yet. But experts believe that it is about returning to what internet was meant to be before tech giants started capitalizing on information and content. That is free flow of information through peer-to peer networks (blockchain) and on top of that, democratizing fair returns for content creators. Still in its early stage, blockchain will become one of the pillars that will support web 3.0 solving the Web 2.0 way of interacting with the end-users. Promising security, no central point of control, through public blockchains ledgers, ownership of own data and decentralized cloud storages. Beside from investing in coins to trade, you, as a content creator, are taking part in an ecosystem that aims to maximize your returns on your creation without a central entity taking control of your entity but rather a community of content creators and endorsers that fairly pushes good projects and contents to the top. To cited some examples, you should definitely check out Brave Browser and Steemit.

An ecosystem that does not store your personal information and if so perhaps just the necessary ones that you want to make public whereby you are not obliged to give in.

An ecosystem where you are not target with advertisements from your previous years of browsing but rather a smart advertisement targeting.

An ecosystem, where tech giants could still act like a middleman but rather then capitalizing on your content creations, they capitalise only through a system of processing fee and rewards for taking part in the platform.

It does sounds all dreamy, but it can become reality if we are bold enough to take part in this revolutionary innovation that is blockchain.

It's all about giving ownership back to us, users.
