Mark Zuckerberg has been in the news for issues like this since the Inception of Facebook but this one looks like the last straw
I have even heard that their WhatsApp conversations reflect on Facebook based on the manner of ads they encounter.
Even though the #deletefacebook movement have been on for days now that even saw Influential Individuals like Elon Musk delete the Facebook pages of his companies, I still believe that Facebook is a very Important Application
I say this because Zuckerberg has managed to Innovate Facebook till the extent that it is more like a living Organism. And even though Facebook Stock is currently taking a beating, I believe that this will pass and it will rebound
A lot of business need Facebook to thrive in this present age and even thought it is dying, it will take some time before a strong alternative like Facebook comes around. You will probably be thinking of Steemit chances of getting to that Level, but I believe that Steemit still has to undergo a lot of developments
The launch of Hive Mind and SMT's might help fast track that development. I believe that the people deleting Facebook now are those who don't really need it to thrive
The reason that Elon Musk could convinently delete his comapny Facebook pages was because he has developed his brand to the extent that he no longer needs to advertise on Facebook. Any media can serve him efficiently due to his wide reach
New Startups and Indiviauls who wants to reach Millions of people still need Facebook to grow and thrive. The number one commodity online is attention and Facebook is still very Rich in that aspect

It is not very sure how deep Facebook is in when it comes to user data,but the truth is that the level of access Facebook application has ranging from WhatsApp to Messenger can give Zuckerberg unlimited access to any Information he wants
Metadata upon Metadata of users Info are picked by Facebook servers on a daily basis and the most ironic thing is that everyone on Facebook agreed to this one way or the other. It is not everyone who has time to read Terms and Conditions or research what granting Messenger access to phone calls and messages really means
And when it comes to access there are a lot of presumed harmless Apps out ther who we give access to our phones without knowing what we are getting ourselves into.
The only solution to this will be a decetralized online community where everyone will be in charge of his/her data, but that seems light years away

Facebook is a platform that this present world cannot deny it is not helpful. Mark may be victim of all these allegations but the point is (as you asked) what of the little businesses.
Facebook has really help a lot even by collecting personal data.
It can link you with a lost friend etc.
I don't normally use it any longer but let's not say no to facebook
Having a decentralized social network is good but keep in mind, that every technology comes with its disadvantages.
For instance, on the steem blockchain, virtually all data are public except your account keys, so I really do not understand it when people speak of decentralization as the solution to information protection.
Facebook issue, as far as I am concerned is not a facebook problem, it is a corporation problem, it seems the law allows them to have the liberty to do all this legally and you can not blame a business man for exploiting legal wallcracks.
So, this isn't about facebook, this is about what the confines of regulations allow.
