Being "Crafty"

The word "craft"(noun), pronouced kraft (Listen to the word with an American accent or the British version), means: an activity involving skill in making things by hand - "the craft of bookbinding"; synonyms: activity, occupation, profession, work, line of work, pursuit - "the historian's craft". (verb): exercise skill in making (something) - "he crafted the chair lovingly". (Source)

The term "crafty" (kraefti, adjective of craft) means skillful, strategical, discerning, etc.

The Crafty ICO is all about providing the over 22,000,000 self-employed skilled workers in Brazil (and their customers) with a free platform that makes finding jobs (or finding skilled workers) a breeze.

It is a revolutionary, incentivized, decentralized, transparent and highly efficient solution for the myriad of problems that plague the present, outdated, expensive and grossly inefficient ecosystem for craftsmen and skilled workers.

Here's a nice, one minute video that will give you an overview of Crafty:

Good Jobs Are Hard to Find!

Hunger.jpg
Source (Base Source)

For the vast majority of craftsmen, skilled workers and autonomous professional services personnel, finding appropriate jobs at a fair rate is a time consuming, anxiety ridden, and often fruitless endeavor.

Hard pressed for money, these people usually end up settling for jobs that are either way below their skill level; or forced to do big jobs for little pay.

Furthermore, they have neither the free time, nor the resources for costly advertising campaigns or specialized (and very expensive) job hunting services.

In short, the common outcome for them is to work in a capacity well beneath their qualifications; or getting fleeced (severely under paid).

Good Workers Are Hard To Find!

In many parts of the world, there are no formal structures for qualifying a craftsman, skilled worker or other service personnel.

Their are no "licenses" or "certificates of training", etc. that forewarns the prospective customer of the results he may or may not get.

As a single father, I found myself in this situation when I lived in Leyte (Philippines) and needed a nanny/caretaker for my daughter who was still in diapers at the time.

The first obstacle was cultural. Many candidates whom I interviewed for the job already had a false, preconceived notion that she could charge exhorbitant rates - simply because I was considered a "rich foreigner".

As soon as I sensed that exploitive, mercenary mentality, those individuals were immediately disqualified in my mind.

Then there was a parade of people who seemed motivated to do a good job, but (to me) were obviously unqualified - untrained and didn't possess the capacity to quickly learn the skills needed to responsibly watch, make nutritious meals, and care for my daughter.

Running out of time before I had to travel for a couple of weeks, I was wondering if I should just cancel my business plans or maybe even try to take my daughter with me alone?

Worn down by the process, I was at my wits end.

Then it happened.

A "perfect candidate" strolled in the door, but she was only there because her friend was applying for the job.

Long story short, I just hired both of them!

But...

Upon my return, I decided to fire them immediately.

Why?

While I was away and calling/texting several times/day, neither of the two caretakers bothered to tell me that daughter was sick with a cold (flu-like symptoms).

Then, instead of taking her to see the doctor, they all went to a "faith healer" whereupon my daughter had to inhale a smoky brew of whatever magic the witch doctor believed in.

I sh*t you not. My daughter was still wearing the "magic, medicinal herbal paint" on her forehead and torso when I arrived home!

Insult to injury?

Another thing wasn't reported to me while I was gone:

The two nanny workers decided to defrost my brand new, "self defrosting" refridgerator the local way: Taking a metal knife or ice-pick to the ice buildup.

End result?

FUBAR (F*cked Up Beyond All Recognition) freezer coils!

It was bye-bye to my expensive, new refridgerator and bye-bye to the new caretakers...

Good Customers/Bosses Are Hard To Find!

Steve Jobs.jpeg
Source (Base Source)

The customer of a craftsman or skilled worker is actually "the boss" until completion of the job.

In the wild, wild west of the unregulated skilled worker industry, the bad customers/bosses far outweigh the good ones.

If a worker is unlucky, he/she can wind up with a boss that's more demanding than the late Steve Jobs - the ultimate perfectionist and the epitome of a$$hole boss!

Just as disheartening are the customers with no clear description of what they really want, fuzzy about standards, and are clearly without a clue what the end goal of the project is (think of the programmer's customer nightmare).

These customers constantly make unfunded changes to the project before the job is completed and the worker's torture is over.

The worse case scenario is when a dishonest customer/boss intentionally makes the job unbearable so the worker eventually quits without pay; the worker not knowing that his/her wallkout was a pre-planned event and that the standard for the project was met weeks earlier!

Snapshot: Too much hassle, heartache and time for the money.

Underpaid again.

Crafty aims to solve all the current problems that the skilled worker and the customer/boss encounter during any job seeking, craftsman/skilled worker hunting and job completion/settlement scenarios.

The Crafty Ecosystem

After two years of successful operations as Diaríssima (the predecessor of Crafty), Crafty is ready to bring the same great benefits to the whole Brazilian autonomous professional services space.

The Crafty Ecosystem is powered by their token (Symbol: CFTY).

(Its ICO distribution and dates are submitted later in this article.)

Users of the platform earn CFTY when every worker and customer evaluates each other upon job completion. This means that ALL parties involved in the finished project have a voice, influences future job prospects, and are awarded CFTY.

This feedback loop is essential for building a "reputations database" that will enhance stakeholders' user experience and propagate positive, future projects and relationships.

Crafty's innovative, transparent, equitable and efficient business model is based on cutting edge Artificial Intelligence systems that effectively disrupts, disintermediates and decentralizes the skilled worker space.

Crafty Video Series

Here are some informative videos from Reynaldo Silva (CEO) and Normann Kalmus (CKO) of Crafty that explains Crafty's history, mission and vision.

(Following each video, I give my brief take-aways in italics).

Video #1 - Greetings and welcome to Crafty:

The Crafty ICO is the logical evolution of the highly successful, two year project called "Diaríssima" - which was downloaded over 70,000 times and has an active user base of over 25,000.

Video #2 - A brief introduction to our concept and business model

The Crafty platform is a free win/win for both the skilled worker AND the customer/boss. They both can earn CFTY tokens that can further help their future projects - either as wages, investment, or any other collateral job necessity that was once out of pocket.

Video #3 - A bit about our investment strategy

Big population, big market! There are over 207 million Brazilians and more than 10 million of them are autonomous professional services workers.

Video #4 - Information asymmetry: the center of economic inefficiency

Just like "Location, location, location!" is the mantra for any brick and mortar business, real estate firm, gas station, restarurant, and shopping mall, for the worker and customer/boss alike, "Reputation, reputation, reputation!" is what really counts!!

Video #5 - Crafty presented by our co-founder and Ambassador Mariano

Recaps the videos #1 through #4 in the Portuguese language.

Since then, he's been a full-time, single father and actively pursuing his varied passions (Writing, Disruptive Technology, Computer Science and Cryptocurrency - plus more hobbies too boring or bizarre for most folk).

He lives on an island paradise with his teenage daughter, longtime girlfriend and three dogs.
