Me and my folks are done wasting time with these sorts of problems. They've been endemic since the BitShares era, and show no sign of improving. This is always what happens when I try to build stuff on graphene blockchain systems, and I know it's not just me. It'll work.... till it doesn't anymore and requires god knows how much maintenance.
Steemit could have done better, hell, I can do better..... so that's what I am up to.
If I had to venture a guess, I would guess that because steemit.com/wspa is now issuing 301 redirects to the new websocket endpoint, your websocket client is out of spec and isn't following those redirects to the new wss://steemd.steemit.com websocket endpoint.
If indeed that is the issue (it has bit others today), having either a working HTTP client implementation, or running your own steemd would solve this problem.
If this isn't the issue you're describing, a list of steps to reproduce would be helpful so we can squash the bug.
Its still in beta though, had this problem once too. After waiting a couple of minutes and restarting my browers it worked again.
Sure, and that works when one person is trying to accomplish something at once.
Now, imagine you want to have your web site integrate with steem, but it's got as many users as steem, and needs to integrate reliably. ....and all the sudden you're trapped in the "yeah, we said you could build that, but we didn't mean you could like, actually build that" box.
well, that would be bad. But i´m more the "good things take time" kind of guy :)

I think the people running steemit consider it to be a feature.
I'm running product at steemit, and I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about because you haven't offered a bug report or even a description of your problem.
Your claim that steemit.com doesn't want to be an open platform is completely untrue, though.

come on faddat, give it one more go. It looks like sneak genuinely wants to help. I haven't a clue about the issue you are alluding to but it sounds important.
sneak...if he's already supplied specifics in a bug report (other priorities notwithstanding) perhaps you could take a look and get back to him? He obviously feels he's getting nowhere with something critical.
