After watching this video with Sharon Goldberg speaking, I got to thinking about what truly is the goal of decentralization especially since it still is being controlled by centralized bodies and policies. We trade, purchase and store the supposed decentralized assets on centralized exchanges and wallets. Knowing that no one can be that sure about where we are going, it gives some false assurances that everything will be fine once we call it "decentralization".
There has been too many projects going nowhere and with no purpose except to fleece unsuspecting users of their hard earned monies. There are series of promises about decentralization that will never see the light of day especially, since it more about propaganda tha real actions.

Decentralization should be more about TRUST and not a complete dichotomy between centralized or decentralized systems if it is to work. The thriving and pursuit for a decentralized economy will not be complete without a centralized economy and policy influence.
The world have come to trust the centralized ecosystem despite its various shortcomings and getting those who have come to trust it so much to change their minds and move, means there must be some high level of trust in the offing when we talk decentralisation.
A system created to be independent and secured should be able to enable your "trust nodes". A system geared towards global adoption, should be about a heightened level of security for users portfolios in the incidences of hacks.
The Blockchain is useful no doubt.
Thank goodness for the Blockchain, and there should be more to thank the Blockchain in the future for the good it will play in the development of the world. Developers, enthusiasts, investors, speculators and anyone involved in the tech should be seen as using the Blockchain to build systems that are secured, fast and capable building a trust node in the minds of the people.
Decentralization has not stopped the loss of funds.
Despite the "loud talks and white paper structures" most of these entities share on the internet, they get hacked on daily basis and cost investors million in dollars of financial loss, leaving many with "no trust" for the decentralized system that is supposed to change the world.
We are presently in August 2018 and so far, investors have lost over $730 Million to Crypto exchange hacks and the end is not seen yet. Whenever there is a hack that costs users their hard earned monies, the question is, if Cryptocurrency and Blockchain should be trusted comes into play.
The lost is so mind-blowing that the confidence of investors are threatened whenever it occurs.
Flashback<<<< The Mt Gox and DAO hacks are so far one of the biggest in the Cryptocurrency and Blockchain space and there are hundreds around the world who are yet to recover from that lost.
These are just IMO.
I am what can be considered a noob and whenever I watch these videos of someone explaining what they have come to understand the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency to be, I get some more insights and are able to plan towards the next move. There is no one who can completely say it like you would want it, but there are stuffs you can learn that will help you form a good knowledge of this space.

What a speech!!! Sure, Sharon is loaded with lots of information and ideas on the Blockchain, centralization, discentralization, crptocurrency etc, hmmm... If given more time, she would have blown off the lid, 👍👍👍. People like us are still in the kindergarten, God will help us to grow. Thanx @ejemai for bringing this our way.
Those thick rim glasses give Sharon maximum geek credibility. The IDGAF attitude to the baby bump is a testament to her commitment to the technological gods.
