What is Lisk? Are the Rebranding Rumors True? ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒˆ Lisk uses JavaScript not .NET

I made a mistake in this video Lisk uses JavaScript not .NET.

In today's episode of Crypto Riot I review Lisk and talk about it's upcoming Re-branding on February 20th.

Name of coin: Lisk

Rebranding was due end of 2017, devs pushed it back to Feb 20th and coin dropped 20%

Antshares saw a big boost when it was rebranded to NEO

$16 - $47 - 300% increase

Proof of work/Proof of Stake (Mining protocol)

Delegated proof of stake system with 101 most voted Delegates that verify transactions become the main nodes.

1000 delegates on the waiting list. Encourages people to build apps encourage votes.

Similar system to Steemit and Bitshares

Three Best Youtube Explainer Videos

Main Pros

Allows for javascript instead of solidity. Much easier for web developers and existing people to use, lowers barrier of entry

Side chains allow quick adoptions of dapps, with customizeable features. Lisk was the first to use side chains as a way to allow for companies or individuals do create their own blockchain. These side chains can use different mining algorithms and have custom settings depending on what's needed.

10 second block time is much faster than bitcoin/litcoin

Disadvantages

When the price goes up it makes it expensive to send. $3.20 per transaction Javascript isnโ€™t a fast programming language. C++ is much faster. But the bottle neck to running dapps right now isnโ€™t the programming language speed. Tough competition from Cardano, Ethereum & EOS

Marketing and logo is cheesy.

Sort: ย

NEO has no fees on it's network, 15 second block times, the ability to program in javascript as well as python and other popular coding languages... plus they have real POS and its the best in crypto.

I am still holding Lisk though because they've a great team and have been working hard, I am sure they will have their own competitive advantages.

As a web developer I think the classic "language barrier" argument on Ethereum is over rated.
People make a big deal out of it, saying that it's a new programming language to learn so it's going to be a problem for developers to adopt the platform. I've started developing on the Ethereum platform and learning Solidity is the easy part. The real struggle is learning the new paradigms like Gas consumption, security or the inability to update a contract.
Solidity is very close to javascript in terms of syntax, so web developers will be familiar with it. It's like learning Italian when you are Spanish.

I would also name NEM among competitors, though the NEM platform for smart contracts is more simplistic, but also less prone to bugs.

What will the new name be?

Nobody really knows yet... personally I don't think Lisk is that bad.

Love your videos David. Look forward to them every day.

Very clear info, thanks.
