As a web developer I think the classic "language barrier" argument on Ethereum is over rated.
People make a big deal out of it, saying that it's a new programming language to learn so it's going to be a problem for developers to adopt the platform. I've started developing on the Ethereum platform and learning Solidity is the easy part. The real struggle is learning the new paradigms like Gas consumption, security or the inability to update a contract.
Solidity is very close to javascript in terms of syntax, so web developers will be familiar with it. It's like learning Italian when you are Spanish.
