There are are numerous ways to buy cryptocurrency yet most transactions come with a high fee. I often use Kraken but the fees are really high. On Kraken once you have made a profit and want to deposit to your bank account there is a $60 fee so if it is not a large transaction all your trades become pointless.

When I am looking to trade ERC-20 Tokens I have often used HitBTC but the platform is highly untrustworthy with numerous hacks reported almost on a monthly basis. When trading on HitBTC you have to calculate the fee exactly or else you will lose a large amount of money not in the market but in all the trading fees. HitBTC has different fees for each cryptocurrency and some fees are exorbitant.

There is also the fact that these are not individuals who you are trading with but platforms run by a company who at the end of the day have only profits in mind.
