That's a magazine-quality piece. I'm hugely impressed.
Having rarely worked for a wage of any kind, I have to say that when I did, I felt exactly what you're describing, no matter the great people I work with. Even now, when I'm on salary as a teacher, I maintain a good relationship with other work so as to provide myself with escape options. I think that's critical. I don't know if I could survive otherwise.

Oh, it's happening right now. Educational disruption is a necessity, and I've operated on the black-market side in education for decades. It's only recently that I've infiltrated the charter school market, and that's only because it's a fringe school that tolerates, um, alternative teaching topics and methods. You're absolutely right that the blockchain--especially Steemit-style reward systems--are going to have a huge impact in education, and for me, it can't come soon enough.
Escape options are always king. Any workplace can turn intolerable because of office politics or some other kind of bullshit. In the teaching profession you're always at risk of trouble from the students.
True dat. My students have so far been terrific, which is great. But those escape options really matter, because one day...
