What is blockchain? (Beginner Level)
By definition, blockchain is a peer-to-peer network that uses distributed public ledgers to record transactions where no central entity or institution is controlling the network. For the non-tech savvy people, this draws a blank. To put it in perspective, imagine as a young child(peer), you want to make a visit to your friend’s house (peer) by yourself who lives across another neighbourhood because you feel you are a big boy/girl now. However, your mum (entity) drops the bomb on you and said “No, you are too young to visit your friend’s house all by yourself. What if a stranger kidnaps you?” This can cause a lot of kids to throw a tantrum. What if the mum (entity) is removed from the scenario? You can visit your friend’s house anytime and not be controlled by your overprotective mum. This is the power of blockchain in a nutshell. The convenience and freedom to make seamless peer-to-peer connection without the need or dictatorship of an entity. Particularly, blockchain is well-known for transferring funds from one location to another securely without a need from a middle-man.
