Real Estate and the Blockchain: Overview of the 4th Year of Major Business Conference. 1.5% of all ICO Money Has Entered Real Estate Sector.
IBREA review:
The fourth annual International Blockchain Real Estate Association (IBREA) conference took place last week.
IBREA now has over 3,000 members in 17 countries. 1.5% of money ($35m) raised across all ICOs has gone into the Real Estate sector.
The major topic of discussion was transferring registries onto the blockchain.
In Brazil 70% of land is not titled and it can cost between $5-10k per title registry. The inefficiency of registries means that it can take months to complete a sale and the instability of property rights is a root cause of underdevelopment, hindering citizens from acquiring loans and the government from collecting property tax.
IBREA is lobbying for the wider acceptance of the digital transfer of assets using blockchain based tokens: companies currently operating in this space include REIDAO, Propy and Blocksquare.
