Real Estate & the Blockchain: Overview of 4th Year of Major Business Conference. 1.5% of all ICO Money Has Entered the Real Estate Sector.
IBREA review:
The 4th annual International Blockchain Real Estate Association (IBREA) conference took place recently.
IBREA now has 3,000+ members in 17 countries. 1.5% of money ($35m) raised across all ICOs has gone into the Real Estate sector.
The major topic of discussion was transferring registries onto the blockchain.
In Brazil 70% of land is not titled and it can cost between $5-10k per title registry. The inefficiency of registries means that it can take months to complete a sale and the instability of property rights is a root cause of underdevelopment, hindering citizens from acquiring loans and the government from collecting property tax.
IBREA is lobbying for the wider acceptance of the digital transfer of assets using blockchain based tokens: companies currently operating in this space include REIDAO, Propy and Blocksquare.
